    Awards & Accolades

    1. Brunch & Sip was recognized by Phoenix Home & Garden as the Best Commercial Project of 2026. The tenant improvement project by LGE Design Build converted a former office building into a two-story restaurant.

    Groundbreakings

    2. Gorman & Company has started construction on Casa Grande Apartments, a 64-unit affordable housing community in Casa Grande’s Life on Main redevelopment district. Located at 115 W. Main Ave., the development will include three residential buildings and the adaptive reuse of the historic Shonessy House as a community space and leasing office. Completion is anticipated in 2027. Financing is being provided by the Arizona Department of Housing, City of Casa Grande, Central Arizona Regional Economic Foundation, BMO, Enterprise and Rocky Mountain Community Reinvestment Corporation.

    3. Construction is underway on TenSixty Interchange, an office-to-industrial redevelopment at 4415 S. Wendler Dr. in Tempe. Developed by Alidade Capital and Pine Creek Real Estate Partners, the project will convert a former office site into a 58.3KSF Class A industrial building on 4.5 acres. Stevens-Leinweber Construction is the general contractor, and Butler Design Group is the architect. Completion is slated for Q1 2027. JLL is handling leasing for the project.

    4. Work has begun on the $10M I-17 Pavement Rehabilitation: Sunset Point–SR 69 project north of the Sunset Point Rest Area. The project will improve the driving surface along a 10-mile segment of I-17 between the Sunset Point Rest Area and State Route 69 near Prescott. Construction is expected to continue through fall 2026.

    5. The City of Surprise has broken ground on Surprise Police Substation No. 1, a $5.7M, 32KSF public safety facility at the NWC of 163rd Avenue and San Ysidro Road. Designed by Perlman Architects of Arizona, the substation will serve as an operational hub for approximately 60 individuals and will include a future Real Time Crime Center. Willmeng Construction is the project’s general contractor. Completion is expected in fall 2027.

    6. Gold Medal Swim School broke ground on a new facility at 16517 W. Cactus Road in Surprise. Upward Architects is the design firm, and Alexander Building Company is the general contractor. Makita U.S.A. and Kidder Mathews are also part of the project team. The facility is expected to open this fall.

    Progress Reports

    7. KB Home has opened Bella Tierra Horizon, a new single-family home community on East Irvington Road between South Houghton Road and South Camino Seco in Tucson. The development features one-story homes with up to four bedrooms and two baths.

    Completions

    8. The Arizona Department of Transportation has completed the I-10 Ina to Ruthrauff roads widening project in Tucson. The $171M project widened I-10 from three to four lanes in each direction between Ina and Ruthrauff roads, reconstructed the Orange Grove Road interchange and rebuilt the Sunset Road interchange. The project also included replacing nine bridges and constructing the Sunset Links Road extension between I-10 and River Road. Work began in early 2023.

    9. The City of Chandler and Gorman & Company have celebrated the grand opening of Villas on McQueen, a $58M, 157-unit affordable housing community at 77 N. McQueen Road in Chandler. The development replaces two public housing communities originally built in 1972 and marks Chandler’s first public housing conversion through HUD‘s Rental Assistance Demonstration program. Financing was provided by the Arizona Department of Housing, Maricopa County, City of Chandler, RBC Community Investments, Stonehenge Capital, Capital One and Cedar Rapids Bank and Trust. Construction began in June 2024.

    10. Construction has been completed on The Villas on Shelby, a 30-unit affordable housing community in Sedona. Developed by HS Development Partners in partnership with the City of Sedona, the three-story project sits on a 1.2-acre site. Wespac Construction served as the general contractor.

    11. Sunset Health is preparing to open its new 27.5KSF clinic in the Parkview commercial complex in Somerton, approximately one month after receiving state approval to operate the facility. Construction of the clinic began in June 2024 and was completed in November. The new facility will replace Sunset Health’s existing 8KSF clinic on Somerton Avenue. An official grand opening is planned for August.

    12. The City of Peoria recently held a ribbon-cutting for the Peoria Fleet Maintenance Facility. The municipal facility will support the City’s utility vehicle fleet operations. The Weitz Company served as the general contractor, and Shive-Hattery was the design firm.
