    Giving Back

    1. Red Feather Development Group received a $150K AHEAD grant from FHLBank San Francisco in partnership with Clearinghouse CDFI to host housing workshops in northern Arizona. Funds support the Healing Homes initiative with Navajo and Hopi communities, covering part of an education program manager’s salary and costs for nine DIY repair and pro skills workshops with certifiable energy-efficient construction training.

    Awards & Accolades

    2. The IFMA Greater Phoenix Chapter was named Large Chapter of the Year at the 2025 IFMA Awards of Excellence. The recognition highlights the chapter’s leadership and contributions to advancing the facility management profession.

    3. Todd Wood, CEO of Christopher Todd Communities, was named a 2025 Influencer in Multifamily Real Estate by GlobeSt. He was recognized for leading the company’s Build-to-Rent expansion through the acquisition and improvement of underperforming communities across the country.

    Company News

    4. A collection of investors by BlackRock’s Global Infrastructure Partners—including MGX and the Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Partnership—has agreed to acquire Aligned Data Centers for approximately $40B. Macquarie Asset Management and its co-investment partners are the sellers. If approved by regulators, the deal is expected to close in the first half of 2026. Aligned has data centers in various phases of development around the world, including six in Arizona.

    5. Woodfield Development has entered the Phoenix market and named Neil Hanlon VP of Development to lead expansion into the state. Hanlon joins the firm from Greystar, where he served as Director of Development in Phoenix for more than seven years. He is currently scouting land for Woodfield’s first metro Phoenix project, focusing on Mesa and north Phoenix near the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company complex.

    6. Two teams of SRP linemen and apprentices are heading to Kansas City this week to compete against other utility companies from around the world at the International Lineman’s Rodeo. Apprentices and linemen will compete in several events from Oct. 15-18.

    Promotions

    7. Josh Anderson was promoted to Data Center Sector Lead at Sundt Construction. Anderson has more than 25 years of construction experience and joined the company in 2005. He previously served as Project Executive.

    New Hires

    8. Michael Krentz joined Gensler as Studio Director. Krentz has more than 30 years of architectural experience and principal-level leadership.

    9. Patrick Banger was named City Manager for Glendale, succeeding Kevin Phelps, who will step down in Jan. 2026 after nearly a decade of service. Banger joins Glendale from the Town of Gilbert, where he served as Town Manager for 14 years and led major revitalization efforts, including $387M in private investment and 748KSF of new development in the Heritage District.

    10. Thomas Title & Escrow hired Sara Barrett as its new National Business Development Officer. She is expected to provide innovative solutions for complex transactions involving multiple assets.

    11. WOODPATEL announced it has hired Kirk J. Pangus. Pangus has more than 50 years of land survey experience. In his new role, he will lead survey projects, provide strategic consulting and strengthen the firm’s practices.

    12. TEPCON Construction, Inc. announced the hiring of Cayden Martin as Marketing Coordinator. Martin has three years of experience with an engineering firm.

    Departures

    13. Director of Economic Initiatives for the City of Tucson, Barbra Coffee, resigned in September for personal reasons. Her departure came roughly a month after City Council voted against Project Blue.

    14. City Manager Bob Wingenroth announced he is resigning from the City of Surprise. Wingenroth is resigning from the position to take the same role in Laguna Hills, Calif. He will stay with Surprise until the end of November.
