    Groundbreakings

    1. A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the new Maricopa Fieldhouse. The fieldhouse is to be constructed at the former site of the Maricopa Police Department Substation at the SEC of Bowlin Road and Greythorn Drive. The new building will be 42KSF and will cost $16.2M. Construction is scheduled to be complete next summer.

    2. A.R. Mays Construction, in collaboration with the Arizona Jewish Historical Society, broke ground June 5 on the Hilton Family Holocaust Education Center. The Center will be located at 122 E. Culver St. in downtown Phoenix. The 32KSF, two-story facility with a basement is being built near the historic Cutler Plotkin Jewish Heritage Center. The architect of record for the building is Deutsch Architecture Group. The exhibit’s architect is Gallagher Design, and the owner representative is Chermack Consulting Group. The Center is expected to open in spring 2027.

    Progress Reports

    3. DCS Contracting is progressing on the GSQ Goodyear Way Development CMAR project. Recent work includes installation of 1,900 LF of 12-inch DIP water main, 1,800 LF of eight-inch PVC sewer main, 1,200 LF of 48-inch storm drain and catch basins. Current activity includes curb and gutter, decorative sidewalk, medians, a roundabout, lighting and landscaping. The extension will connect the new City Hall and a two-acre park to a mixed-use district.

    4. Mattamy Homes recently celebrated the grand opening of Blackhawk, a new single-family home community at 7410 S. Bullseye Way on Tucson’s East Side between Wilmot and Craycroft roads. The community features four one- and two-story floorplans ranging from 1.5KSF to 2.5KSF, with three to four bedrooms. Move-ins will begin this July.

    5. Rockefeller Group has begun vertical construction on Corsica Villas, its first build-to-rent project in Arizona. The 152-unit townhome development spans 16.5 acres across two sites in south Phoenix, one at 20th Street and Baseline and the other at 7th Street and Euclid Avenue. Units range up to 1.5KSF and include two- and three-bedroom layouts with attached garages. Mosaic is the general contractor. Completion is expected in late 2025 or early 2026.

    6. Dink & Dine Pickle Park is set to open July 30 at Mesa Riverview near Loop 202 and Dobson Road. The 72KSF complex includes 13 pickleball courts, dining venues, an outdoor park, and event space. The buildout spans two buildings and a covered outdoor area. If successful, ownership plans to expand the concept across the western U.S.

    7. Lava Island, a 40.9KSF indoor playground, is expected to open this summer in the former Conn’s space at Marana Marketplace, 3742 W. River Road in Tucson. Larsen Baker brokered the lease.

    Completions

    8. Habitat Metro has completed ECO Phoenix, a $20M, 125KSF multifamily project at 301 E. Roosevelt in downtown Phoenix. The five-story building includes 70 residential units and 3.3KSF of ground-floor retail. CCBG Architects served as the design firm and Sletten Companies was the general contractor. Notable subcontractors include PK Associates, WERK Studio, Hartford Engineering and Ardurra.

    9. Abrazo Health is holding a June 18 ribbon cutting for its new 60KSF, three-story medical office building at 21250 W. Roosevelt St. in Buckeye. The facility is currently 90% leased.

    10. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department recently opened a new substation on West Valencia Road, near South Mark Road. San Xavier District Substationcost $9M to complete.

    11. EōS Fitness celebrated the grand opening of its fortieth gym in Arizona, its ninth location in Phoenix. Located in central Phoenix, just off Bethany Home Road and 15th Street, the new gym serves as one of the anchor tenants at the Bethany-East Shopping Center, joining a mix of existing retailers.
