Awards & Accolades
1. ENR Southwest has announced category winners for its Best Projects competition. The winning project teams will be recognized Nov. 7at the Renaissance Phoenix Downtown Hotel where the selected Project of the Year will be announced. The three finalists are the Luhrs Moxy Hotel, Northwest Phase II Extension Light Rail Transit and Mayo Clinic AZ Bold Forward West Expansion, all of which are in the Phoenix area.
Groundbreakings
2. General contractor Haydon broke ground on a 210KSF data center for Edged Energy. The data center is at 8811 E. Warner Road off Loop 202 on a 12-acre-plus campus. According to Edged, the project is expected to save 94 million gallons of water annually versus traditional data center designs. The data center is also expected to use 74% less overhead energy than conventional data centers.
3. The City of Prescott recentlyheld a groundbreaking ceremony for its new Streets Division Admin Building. The ground-up 15.7KSF two-story pre-engineered metal building will house the Streets Department, administrative offices and include vehicle storage for equipment like snowplows and work trucks. The Design-Bid-Build team is Danson Construction, Kimley-Horn and Stroh Architects.
Progress Reports
4. The next phase of renovations has begun on the new Prescott City Hallbuilding on North Montezuma Street. The final phase began Aug. 27 when the National Bank of Arizona building was officially vacated and turned over to the City. A $2.3M contract for the work is in place with Ridgeline Builders LLC. Completion for this phase is expected by June 2025. The entire project should be completed around spring 2026.
5. The Statesman Group is getting ready to break ground on the fifth building at The Luxe at Desert Ridgein north Phoenix. The plans call for 40 units. Total development costs for the entire Luxe community are estimated at $185M.
6. Gilbert officials expect that the Water Town Plazaredevelopment project that began construction in January will be finished by the end of the year. The Gilbert Chamber of Commerce recently organized a joint meeting in which updates were shared and attendees were able to go on a tour of the site.
Completions
7. The Phoenician, A Luxury Collection Resort, Scottsdale, has announced completion of the second phase of its renovations. These enhancements were targeted toward the Phoenician Grand Ballroom and the Estrella Ballroom, as well as the upper-level breakout rooms and hallways. Parker-Torres Design directed the refresh.
8. The City of Mesa has announced the conclusion of its expansion project for Red Mountain Park. Funding for the park was the largest project from the 2018 Parks Bond. The expansion included 10 new multiuse fields, and four new baseball/softball fields with live video streaming. The baseball/softball fields have new scoreboards funded by the Oakland Athletics. Red Mountain Park now has 314 acres of developed land.
9. AireBeam has announced completion of the build out of fiber Internet Infrastructure for the 2,000 units at Viewpoint RV & Golf Resort in Mesa.
10. A.R. Mays Construction has announced the completion of a 50.5KSF Mountainside Fitness within the Scottsdale Towne Center development. The architect was Adaptive Architects.
