Groundbreakings
1. Cushman & Wakefield announced the start of construction for Shorehaven, a 724-unit multifamily community in Tempe. Shorehaven is the first phase of the $1.8B South Pier master plan that will offer residential, dining, entertainment, shopping, hotel and office spaces.
2. Ryan Companies will begin construction on the three-building, 432KSF Schrader Farms Business Park at the NWC of McQueen and Queen Creek roads in Chandler after having purchased the property. Ryan was represented by Pat Harlan, Kyle Westfall and Jason Moore of JLL. The seller was represented by JLL’s Steve Larsen and Bill Honsaker. Ryan will develop and build the project, with Deutsch Architecture Group serving as the architect of record.
3. Work will start this month on Banner Desert Medical Center’s emergency department expansion and renovation. The project will expand the lobby and update the patient drop-off area. 10KSF will be remodeled and 4.2KSF will be added. Completion is expected in January.
4. The Arizona Department of Transportation announced the start of the SR 87/Skousen Road intersection project about one mile west of the Casa Grande Ruins National Monument in Coolidge. The project will reconstruct the intersection and add a lane on SR 87 west of Skousen Road to allow for right turns onto Skousen Road. Completion is expected early next year.
5. Habitat for Humanity of Northern Arizona held a groundbreaking ceremony for Timber Sky, a 40 starter-home development in Flagstaff. Vintage Partners is the developer. $2.2M in state housing trust funds is being used for development.
Completions
6. Z Modular, a division of Zekelman Industries, announced the upcoming completion of Flatz 520, a 348-unit apartment complex in Maricopa. This development marks the fifth community Z Modular has designed, built and opened.
7. P.B. Bell, announced the completion of Weylyn Luxury Apartments in Laveen. Weylyn offers 308 units ranging between 792SF to 1,334SF. MT Builders is the general contractor. BMA Architecture, Terrascape Consulting, Anderson Design and Lawrence Lake Interiors were members of the project team.
8. The $29.5M renovation of Renaissance Phoenix Glendale Hotel & Spa has been completed. The renovation includes an increased room count to 324 rooms. Along with the renovation, the hotel’s restaurant was rebranded as Desert Sage Restaurant & Bar.
9. Following two years of construction, the Arizona Department of Transportation announced the completion of the $25M Tonto Creek Bridge in Gila County.
10. LGE Design Build announced the completion of Center Court Pickleball, a 30KSF, 10-court facility in Gilbert. LGE Design Build was the general contractor and designer.
11. Casey Jacobsen announced the completion of the $2.5M Arena 23, a 22KSF indoor sports amusement park in Chandler. The building once was a K-Mart.
12. A nearly 40-year-old Bashas’ grocery store owned Raley’s Companies in Camp Verde recently completed a thorough remodel.
