A dual-branded hotel development may bring another 248 guest rooms to Greenfield Road near U.S. 60 in Mesa.
Local outlets report the Mesa Design Review Board discussed the proposal for the Greenfield Hotel Development project, which would put an Extended Stay America Premier Suites and a Marriott StudioRes hotel at the NEC of Greenfield and Banner Gateway Drive, during its March 12 meeting.
According to the planning narrative and supporting documents, the project would deliver two four-story hotel buildings with a planned 124 rooms each on a 4.51-acre site. Each would also include a lobby, gym and guest laundry area. There would also be two outdoor common and amenity areas.
Owner South Real Estate Group and developer Concord Hospitality have requested a design review and a special use permit to increase the allowed height from 30 feet to 50 feet. According to the narrative, “The 4.5-acre site location at the intersection of a major arterial, S. Greenfield Road, and E. Banner Gateway Drive, a collector, is consistent with the intent of the General Plan and its adjacency to other commercial development supports the City’s policies for an increase in height as it does not impact residential development. The proposed project is complimentary to the multi-family, medical and retail uses nearby. The site is near two major arterials, S. Greenfield Road and State Highway 60 and has existing utilities immediately adjacent to the site. It has adequate public services and facilities to support its use. The site is also supported by the City of Mesa Economic Development Department for its use as a hotel development.”
The project is owned by South Real Estate Group. The developer is Concord Hospitality. SMP Design is the project architect, and the landscape architect is Young Design Group. The civil engineer is KBell Engineering LLC.
