Groundbreakings
1. Greystar has broken ground on Caliber, a Class A industrial park and the first piece in a $500M mixed-use project planned by Greystar in downtown Peoria. Upcoming phases include residential and retail. JLL is the exclusive leasing broker for the industrial space.
2. The City of Maricopa announced construction will start May 8 on the first phase of the Sonoran Desert Parkway development. Construction is expected to run into the late summer or early fall.
3. Streamliner 16th, a 208-unit attainable housing apartment development from Greenlight Communities, broke ground late last month. Leasing will begin in March 2024.
4. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul has broken ground on Ozanam Manor II, a 50KSF temporary housing facility on The Society’s South Third Street campus in Phoenix. The facility will be used to help older residents experiencing homelessness.
5. Hammes Partners has begun construction on Buckeye Medical Plaza, a 48KSF medical office and services center near the SEC of Watson Road and Sundance Avenue in Buckeye. Completion is targeted for April 2024.
6. The Arizona Department of Transportation will begin two improvement projects on SR 264 near Tuba City (mileposts 360-374) starting May 8. Crews will be working to replace the pavement and restripe the roadway as part of the improvement project along SR 264.
7. Power Ranch Golf Club has begun a renovation project to improve its greens and bunkers. The project is led by Gary Brawley Design and will run through early September.
Progress Reports
8. VAI Global Development has pushed back the development and opening timeline for VAI Resort in Glendale. Roughly 75% of the project’s buildings have started construction, but the opening has been rescheduled from the originally planned March 2024 timeline to mid-to-late 2024.
Completions
9. The City of Tempe announced the April 28 opening of Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU. The 330-room, $125M hotel and conference facility is the result of a public-private partnership with Arizona State University and Tempe.
10. Davcon Aviation LLC and Mesa Hangar LLC commemorated the completion of their 23-acre development Hangar 109 at Falcon Field.
11. The Arizona Department of Transportation announced crews reopened the I-10 interchange at Watson Road on April 27. The interchange has been reconstructed using the diverging diamond design.
12. GCON Inc. announced it is putting the finishing touches on Town Deer Valley, a 388-unit luxury multifamily development on 19th Avenue and Alameda Road. The community was designed by Todd & Associates Architects and is the first Arizona community for developer the Related Group.
13. Semiconductor supplier and service company Edwards announced the completion of its 200KSF manufacturing facility near Chandler Airpark.
14. A. R. Mays Construction announced the completion of The Trails at Tortosa, a 3.3KSF recreational and community hub in Maricopa developed by Communities Southwest and designed by Ware Malcomb.
