    2. The Sundt Foundation has added Scott LaPoint to its board of directors. He will represent the Phoenix region.

    3. The Maricopa Association of Governments has appointed Avondale Mayor Ken Weise as Chair. Vice Chair is Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego. Carefree Mayor Les Peterson was elected Treasurer. Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke, El Mirage Mayor Alexis Hermosillo and Buckeye Mayor Eric Orsborn are At-Large Members.

    4. Taylor Morrison Home Corporation and Värde Partners have quickly scaled their Build-to-Rent joint venture. It has closed on nine assets across Texas, Florida, North Carolina and Arizona. The JV was established to develop rental properties as a part of Taylor Morrison’s Build-to-Rent program. It includes $850M in equity commitments, funded 60% by Värde Partners and 40% by Taylor Morrison.

    5. Historically known as an industrial new-build firm, Renaissance Construction – formerly Renaissance Companies – is rebranding and shifting its focus to encompass business on both ends, new-build and tenant improvements, among several market types, to support its overall strategy. Founded in 1991, the company recently celebrated its 30th anniversary.

    Promotions

    6. McCarthy Building Companies has recently promoted Jeremy Melvin to serve as Executive VP, Human Resources and Chris Anvik as Business Unit Leader, Water Group.

    7. Sundt Construction recently promoted Mike James in its Transportation Group. He will serve as the VP and Preconstruction Manager.

    8. Ware Malcomb has promoted Eric Zitney to serve as its Director of Regional Operations, Southwest.

    9. M.A. Mortenson Company has promoted Greg Huber to Project Executive and Eric Rectenwald to Development Project Manager.

    10. Amy Hillman has been promoted to Analyst at Tricor SFR.

    New Hires

    11. Paul Johnson Drywall, Inc. has appointed Chad Lewis Chief Financial Officer. Lewis will be responsible for overseeing the firm’s financial operations as well as assisting on business and leadership matters. He will serve as an advisor and strategic partner, playing a key role in PJD’s continued national expansion.

    12. Miguel Mancinas joined W.E. O’Neil Construction as Project Engineer.

    In Memoriam

    13. Queen Creek Mayor Gail Barney passed away June 22nd at the age of 74 after battling a lung infection for several months.
