    1. Arizona Public Service’s parent company Pinnacle West Capital Corp. announced it has split the CEO and President roles in the utility company. Ted Geisler has been promoted to president. Andrew Cooper has been promoted to Geisler’s former role as senior VP and CFO, and Jeff Guldner will retain his roles as PNW chairman, president and CEO and APS chairman and CEO.

    2. Multifamily investor, developer and manager MC Companies is marking two decades in business – celebrating its 20th anniversary while also launching collaborations that founders Ross McCallister and Ken McElroy expect will nearly double the company’s size, from 240 to 400 employees, in the next three years.

    3. Wakeman Integrity, a woman-owned brokerage firm specializing in healthcare real estate, is celebrating its fifth year in business. In 2020, the firm added of two brokers and a team of marketing, website, legal and accounting consultants. It has also recently added a project manager and IT programmer for workflow automation and is looking to recruit a business developer.

    4. CimeX Pest Control Management is celebrating its fifth anniversary this year. Starting out with just a truck and a vision to provide top quality service, owners Fernando and Ann Torres have since grown the business to include four fulltime technicians and an office manager and is on track to do $1.1M in revenue this year.

    5. Having left his role as VP at Avenue North, Andrew Biskind founded TBBG Investments, a real estate and development firm currently in the process of developing a $10M rental townhome project known as Sharon Townhomes in north Phoenix.

    6. Build-to-Rent developer Modus Companies announced it is teaming up with HercuTech to use the HercuWall prefabricated wall-building system in its developments. Modus has several developments in the work and is currently planning an 80-unit project in Buckeye (Buckeye Centre), as well as Promenade Village, a two-phase project in Casa Grande with between 200 and 240 units per phase.

    7. Säzän Group announced it is opening a new office in Tucson to further support the firm’s clients and projects. The company has been serving the Southern Arizona market out of its Tempe office with a heavy focus on healthcare, civic, industrial, mixed-use, and multifamily housing projects in Tucson and Southern Arizona and is looking to establish roots in that community.

    8. Salt River Project announced it has entered into a coalition with Arizona Public Service, Tucson Electric Power and Southwest Gas, Arizona State University, the University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University to develop a statewide strategy for deep decarbonization – approaching carbon neutrality for the whole economy. The coalition will be instrumental in finding solutions that help address climate change and sustain Arizona’s economy in a carbon-neutral future. The coalition has established a new ASU-based center called the “Center for an Arizona Carbon-Neutral Economy.” Among its first undertakings, the center will pursue the creation of a regional clean hydrogen hub.

    Promotions

    9. Apache Junction Interim Development Services Department Director Rudy Esquivias has been promoted to serve in the position permanently. Esquivas took over when former Director Larry Kirch retired in February.

    10. Adolfson & Peterson Construction recently announced seven promotions. The staff members and their new positions are:

    • Zac Byard, Senior Superintendent;
    • Vince Castillo, Senior Project Manager;
    • Caleb Frost, Assistant Project Manager;
    • Jonathon Harper, Assistant Project Manager;
    • Steve Reamer, Assistant Project Manager;
    • Kelly Salvione, Director of Project Operations, and
    • Joel Splinter, Quality Control Manager.

    New Hires

    11. The Opus Group has hired Derek Flottum as VP, real estate development for Opus Development Company, L.L.C. Flottum will be helping advance Opus’ Phoenix-area industrial and multifamily efforts.

    12. Adolfson & Peterson Construction recently announced five new hires. The new staff members and their positions are:

    • Molly Ahrens, Marketing Manager;
    • Jason Axtell, Project Manager;
    • Kristie Breeden, Project Manager II;
    • Cristian Gutierrez, Project Manager, and
    • Mike Tompkins, Senior Superintendent.

    13. Tyler Posten joined W.E. O’Neil Construction as Senior Project Manager.

    14. Attorney Patrick Hogan has joined Rose Law Group and will work with the firm’s energy and real estate transaction groups.
