    Giving Back

    1. Cookie Drive Collects 11,831 Cookies for Phoenix Children’s Hospital Kids – LSW Engineers Arizona, Inc. partnered with architectural firms Arrington Watkins, DWL, and triARC during a month-long cookie drive to collect 11,831 cookies for young patients at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital. LSW hosted a packing party on August 23rd to wrap two cookies in Ziploc bags to hand out to the young patients at PCH. LSW Engineers, AWA, DWL and triArc believe that kids deserve a special treat and donated many bags of sweet treats to PCH kids.

    2. Karen Gaylord, the lead partner with Jennings Haug Cunningham’s environmental law practice, was elected to the American College of Environmental Lawyers (ACOEL) as a 2019 Fellow. New Fellows are selected by the ACOEL for their distinguished experience, high standards of practice and substantial contributions to the field of environmental law. Karen’s practice focuses on counseling government entities, water providers, businesses and individuals on environmental law and natural resources matters.

    3. Plaza Companies has created a new Executive Council to help guide its strategic business vision moving forward. As part of the creation of the council, several Plaza Companies leaders have seen enhancements in their titles and duties, including the promotion of Larry Pinalto to serve as president of the company. The Executive Council appointments include the following:

    4.  Keyser has added Chris Carnal to the team with the goal of building a board of directors and helping the company expand nationally.

    Company News

    5. UEB Builders, a general contractor specializing in commercial and residential projects, and Fortune-Johnson (F-J) General Contractors, a construction company specializing primarily in multifamily residential projects, have been acquired by Katerra, a technology company redefining the construction industry. UEB and F-J will leverage Katerra’s technologies and supply chain to deliver increased value to their clients, and both firms will become known as Katerra.

    Promotions

    6. Ryan Wagner has been promoted to Director – Development for Irgens. As Director – Development, Wagner is responsible for site identification and assessment, financing, planning, budgeting, design/construction reviews and more for a portfolio of investments and development projects in the firm’s southwest market. He is responsible for investment analysis and underwriting, directing and coordinating tasks for the acquisition, redevelopment and disposition of assets.

    7. Josh Rutherford has stepped up at the City of Tempe’s Community Development Department as the new Project Assistance Team Lead after longtime City employee Lisa Loyd retired earlier this summer.

    New Hires

    8. Emily Currie, a specialist in leasing and sales of office properties, has joined Colliers International in Arizona as associate vice president in the office properties group.

    9. Jason Chapman has joined Irgens as a Director – Development at the company’s Phoenix office. As Director – Development, Chapman performs detailed financial analysis, planning, strategy and budgeting for key projects. Jason collaborates with design and construction teams, obtains government approvals and negotiates legal agreements and leases to move projects from conception through completion. Chapman most recently worked for RW Partners as Director of Asset and Property Management.

    In Memoriam

    10. The founder and namesake of Dekker/Perich/Sabatini, Steve Perich, has passed away. In honor of Steve, the Dekker/Perich/Sabatini family will continue on their course of providing excellence in all they do for our profession, the industry, clients, and our community. Steve will be missed, but never forgotten.
