Progress Reports
1. The owners of Tucson’s Funtasticks Family Fun Park are adding new water features. Pro Parks Management is building a play area with a splash pad and several bucket drops over slides and climbing bars at the park, 221 E. Wetmore Road. Grail Construction is doing the work.
2. Florence Copper’s solvent extraction and electrowinning plant is under construction off Hunt Highway. The company hopes to produce its first sheet of copper around Christmas.
Completions
3. Salt River Project and NextEra Energy Resources LLC announced the opening of the 258,000-panel Pinal Central Solar Energy Center in Casa Grande. It is the state’s largest grid-connected, utility-scale solar energy center paired with a battery storage system. The 20-megawatt solar photovoltaic generation facility will generate enough solar energy to power 5,000 homes.
4. Sigma Contracting, Inc. recently finished converting a distribution center into a manufacturing facility for Katerra, a technology-driven offsite construction company. The $7.9M project at 624 N. 44th Ave., in Phoenix consists of 200KSF of manufacturing area and 40KSF of office space for Katerra’s design team. The manufacturing side is a single story with 28-foot clear height. The office portion is two stories.
5. St. Vincent de Paul celebrated the expansion of its South Phoenix campus, which includes a new family resource center, a larger shelter for the elderly and disabled and expanded services for the homeless. The project is St. Vincent de Paul’s first capital project in 25 years.
6. Fairmont Gold, an exclusive hotel within a hotel at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, has completed its luxury refurbishment. This enclave of 69 Fairmont Gold Junior Suites, Fairmont Gold Lounge and Meeting Center offers a higher level of more personalized service within the AAA Five Diamond resort’s overall 65 acres and total 750 guest rooms.
