    2. Work is underway on the Arizona Department of Transportation’s SR 347 Improvement Project, a $396M roadway improvement project spanning 14 miles between I-10 and Maricopa. The first phase includes rehabilitating existing travel lanes and outside shoulders with widening, new interchanges at Riggs Road and Mammoth Way and intersection improvements scheduled to begin this winter. The pavement rehabilitation phase is expected to be completed by the end of this year, while the full project is slated for completion by the end of 2029.

    3. Construction has begun, starting with steel installation, on a 28MW solar facility that will support EVelution Energy LLC‘s Arizona Cobalt Project in Yuma County near Tacna. The solar array is part of the company’s $450M cobalt processing facility. Solar construction is expected to continue through 2027, with the cobalt processing facility scheduled to begin commercial operations by the end of 2029.

    4. The Arizona Department of Transportation began construction on July 6 on the SR 79 Passing Lane Project, a $6.3M improvement along an eight-mile segment of SR 79 north of Florence. The project includes adding passing lanes and paved shoulders, repairing or replacing pavement and replacing guardrail from milepost 140 to milepost 148. Construction is expected to continue through summer 2027.

Construction is expected to take approximately 18 months.

    8. Hyatt Hotels Corporation, HSL Properties and Desert Hospitality Management are transforming a hotel tower into the Hyatt Regency Tucson Convention Center in downtown Tucson. The building, formerly known as the Hotel Arizona, has been vacant since 2012. Sundt Construction Inc. is the general contractor, Swaim Associates Architects is the architect, and Offay Design Studio is providing interior design. The multi-million-dollar renovation will create a 291-room hotel with approximately 22KSF of meeting and event space. The project is expected to open in late 2027.
