The City of Safford announced approval of the final plat for a 165-unit residential development known as The Villas and Cottages on 14th at the NEC of 14th Avenue and Relation Street.
The notification ran in The Gila Herald May 21 and congratulated Stratford Development Inc. (Providence Homes) on the culmination of more than a year’s worth of cooperative effort between the company and City staff “supporting smart, responsible development that enhances livability for current and future residents.”
In the same May 12 meeting, Safford City Council also approved the final development plan for the project. The preliminary plan had been approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission last August.
The Villas on 14th will feature 91 two-story units with two- and three-bedroom layouts. The Cottages on 14th will be built separately as 74 single-family units.
Planned amenities include a basketball/pickleball court, a fenced-in dog park, picnic tables and BBQ grills, fitness stations, seating areas and a “tot lot” with playground equipment.
The two components will be built as separate phases.
