A modular cabin resort and a manufactured home workforce housing development are under consideration in the Valle area of Coconino County.
Williams News reported on the Maclaine Meadows Arcana Resort Subdivision, as presented to the Coconino County Planning and Zoning Commission in a study session last month. The plan covers two parcels totaling 122 acres, less than a mile north of U.S.-180 and AZ-64, which the Arizona Daily Sun reported as owned by Live the Dream Development.
The 82.25-acre Arcana resort portion would feature 150 prefabricated short-term rental units and on-site amenities. The developer has requested rezoning for the parcel. A preliminary plat approval was also requested for the remaining 40-acre parcel for a workforce housing mobile home park, where lots would be available for purchase, lease or rent.
Development would take place in two phases, starting with the resort, which would feature 45 450SF four-person cabins and 105 300SF two-person cabins geared toward guests seeking two-to-three-night accommodations.
Planned amenities include a restaurant/bar, spa and pool that would also be open to the public. In addition, resort guests would have access to an art studio space, a retail area, a central pavilion and a sauna.
Arcana would construct the cabin-style units off-site and install them on permanent foundations at the resort. The company would also be in charge of overseeing the guest experience of the resort operations.
Arcana is the company behind the ARHOME premanufactured guest cabin product, which was launched last year, according to a press release.
The project will also have two on-site water wells and will build a 400,000-gallon water storage tank, with 200,000 gallons set aside for firefighting uses. The development will eventually form a fire district or join an existing one.
During the study session, Commissioners expressed appreciation for several components of the project, including road planning and maintenance, water and wastewater planning, the workforce housing component, amenities, and the general infrastructure planning.
Civil Design & Engineering (CD&E) is the engineering firm and project representative.
The Commission will hold a public hearing on the plan as part of its July 30 meeting and vote whether or not to recommend the requests to the Coconino County Board of Supervisors.
