Inspiration at Cottonwood will be a new, two- and three-story garden style apartment community designed to provide workforce housing to fill a growing need for families currently living in, or moving to, the Verde Valley. Developer Inspiration Holding Company, LLC hopes to break ground this summer.
According to an announcement from Sefton Engineering Consultants, the project’s civil engineer, the complex will have 192 “affordable apartment homes with amenities normally seen in upscale apartment complexes.” One target demographic is area hospital employees who want “affordable, yet upscale homes near their employment.” The property is across from Verde Valley Medical Center, adjacent to the Cottonwood Airport and less than one mile from Old Town Cottonwood shops and restaurants on Main Street.
Apartment plans feature 9-foot ceilings, 8-foot entry doors, walk-in closets, washers and dryers in all units, and patios or balconies with storage. Finishes will include vinyl and/or tile plank flooring; solid surface countertops and stainless-steel appliance packages. The community building will include an exercise room living/family space, management offices and mail/package receiving facilities.
The units on the northeast facing side of the community will have views of the Mogollon Rim and the Verde Valley; units on the southwest facing side will have views of Mingus Mountain.
According to Sefton, “The project is adjacent to an existing manufactured home community and will provide a buffer between those homes and industrial and commercial zoning. The Inspiration property is currently zoned for industrial and commercial use, but will be partially rezoned to a Residential Planned Area Development.”
The city’s Planning & Zoning Commission heard and approved the rezoning and minor general plan amendment at its Feb. 26 meeting. The proposal now moves to City Council. No hearing date had been set as of press time.
