1. HBI is currently offering its Schools to Skills Grant. The grant will provide schools with the resources to implement HBI’s Pre-Apprenticeship Certificate Training curriculum—which removes the financial barriers to making high-quality trades education accessible to more students across the country—at no cost for two years. The grant is open exclusively to secondary schools and districts looking to enhance their construction trades programs. Applications are open until Dec. 20.
2. SDB, Inc. recently held its 16th annual SDB Golf Classic. SDB, along with several tournament sponsors from the A/E/C industry, raised $110K for the Disabled American Veterans of Arizona.
3. Salt River Project announced a partnership with Swire Coca-Cola and The Coca-Cola Company to invest in forest health and support water resiliency for central Arizona. The investment in the SRP Resilient Water and Forest Initiative aims to support the Initiative’s restoration of forests over the next two years, helping strengthen a critical water supply for central Arizona communities, including the Town of Payson and the Phoenix Metropolitan Area. Coca-Cola is contributing $202.5K.

4. Terri Sue Rossi, VP of Water Resources for Arizona Water Company, will receive a 2024 Women Achievers of Arizona award from Arizona Capitol Times. Rossi has been involved with Arizona water resources for 37 years.

6. Taylor Morrison announced it delivered better than expected results in the fiscal third quarter and is anticipated to exceed 2024 growth targets. The targets are: 10% annual home closings growth, annualized absorption pace in the low-three range and a community count between 330 and 440. The company expects to meet/exceed each of the metrics with a home closings growth margin of approximately 24.3%.

7. ViaWest Group announced the promotion of Alex Boles from Senior VP of Investment and Development to Managing Director. Boles has been with the company for six years. In his new role, he will be responsible for continuing to drive the firm’s growth strategy, managing all aspects of ViaWest’s Arizona development activities, and ensuring the company’s continued success in an evolving commercial real estate landscape.
New Hires
8. CBRE announced the hiring of Vanessa Williams as Arizona Market Leader and Senior Managing Director. In this role, Williams will oversee Arizona business operations and drive the market’s growth strategy for all Advisory Service lines, including leasing, sales, debt and structured finance, valuation, and property management.
9. DAVIS announced the hiring of Jennifer Swanton as Director of Business Strategy and Growth. Swanton will create and execute a plan to attract new clients, diversify project services and partnerships, develop/implement a marketing strategy, and improve client service standards.
10. Mancini Duffy announced the hiring of Elizabeth King as Senior Interior Designer. King has 12 years of experience in commercial interiors across various practice areas.
Departures
11. Scottsdale City Manager Jim Thompson resigned Oct. 29 to accept a position as City Manager of Loveland, Colo. Thompson served as Scottsdale’s City Manager since 2017. He will begin his new position on Dec. 30. Thompson designated Assistant Scottsdale City Manager Bill Murphy as Acting City Manager.
