Litchfield Park City Council unanimously approved the construction of a library facility at the historic La Loma hilltop. This will replace the library at Wigwam Blvd. and Old Litchfield Road. Residents expressed disapproval of the new library due to the old library’s historical significance and proximity to schools. The new library will be an addition to a cultural complex that includes the P.W. Litchfield Heritage Center, Hilltop Park and proposed Agua Fria Arts Academy. The City of Mesa is proposing two general obligation bond measures totaling $260M on the upcoming November ballot. The Nov. 5 general election will include bonds that collectively fund 12 projects, with $90M designated for public safety and the remaining $170M for recreation, educational and cultural amenities. The GO bonds will be repaid with secondary property taxes. City estimates show the bonds would cost a homeowner with an assessed value of $177.2K approximately $49/year. Local news outlets reported Peoria City Council approved the required General Plan amendments needed for the two major components in north Peoria’s expansion: North Peoria Gateway and the Peoria Innovation Core. The City of Buckeye is proposing two propositions containing several projects that, if approved by voters, would be funded by a nearly $300M general obligation bond. Proposition 494 will ask voters if they want the City to spend $137M on public safety projects. Proposition 495 will ask voters for $145M for road improvements to ease traffic and improve safety. Projects include: A Public Safety Headquarters, valued at approximately $97M. This headquarters would provide Buckeye with a centralized police and fire administration facility. The Sept. 2024 National Industrial Report by Yardi Matrixshows many U.S. markets have seen industrial pipeline shrinkage, yet Phoenix stands apart as a major outlier. Phoenix has 36.8MSF of industrial space under construction, which equates to 9.1% of stock. Adding in planned projects brings that number to 20.6%.
