Groundbreakings 1. Invenergy broke ground on its Hashknife Solar Energy Center in Joseph City. Developers stated the project is to provide up to 450 construction jobs. Construction is expected to last for 18-24 months. The target operational date is 2027, and the project will have a lifespan of 20 years. Arizona’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 3.7%, according to the latest report published by the Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity. The October rate was 3.6%. The national unemployment rate rose to 4.2%, up from 4.1%. Last November, Arizona had a seasonally adjusted rate of 4.2%. The national rate was 3.7%. With the successful launch of the newly opened Desert Diamond Casino White Tanks at San Lucy near Northern Avenue and Loop 303, the Tohono O’odham Nation is now looking to expand amenities and services there and also at its Desert Diamond West Valley location. The tribe plans to add a 19-story hotel with 450 rooms and 30KSF of meeting space at Desert Diamond West Valley near Loop 101 in Glendale. The Winslow City Council has approved preliminary planned area development rezoning and a development agreement with project owner Atlas Global Development for the 1,479-acre Winslow Commerce and Industrial Park. The PAD divides the property into a northern commerce park area with a light industrial focus and a heavy industrial area to the south. As part of Winslow’s sale of 1,200 acres to Atlas Global for the project, data centers were negotiated as a prohibited use because of their low employment value.
