1. Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona’s annual Blueprints & Blue Jeans gala brought in a record-breaking $508,618.56. The gala, attended by 351 guests, featured a silent auction/cocktail hour. An anonymous donor provided matching funds up to $100K during the event’s “Fund the Future” paddle raise.
2. Goodmans announced its upcoming charity event, Goodmans Chair Hockey, benefiting the nonprofit charitable organization First Place AZ. The event is taking place at 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 11 at the Goodmans Phoenix showroom, 1400 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix, and is expected to attract a crowd of more than 400 players and spectators from commercial architecture, interior design and real estate firms across the Valley.

3. Salt River Project has recognized Mesa, Phoenix and Tempe as SRP Sustainable Cities for their commitment to sustainable growth while supporting SRP’s environmental policies and goals. All three were awarded SRP’s Platinum designation. The pilot program, managed by economic development consulting firm Boyette Strategic Advisors and the SRP Economic Development team, provides a structure to assist cities in understanding and demonstrating their sustainability efforts sustainability to ensure their future competitiveness.
4. Environmental, natural resources and energy attorney Michelle De Blasi is celebrating her firm’s third anniversary with an added accolade – 2023 Mentor of the Year, Arizona State University Program on Law & Sustainability Mentorship Initiative.
5. The Discovery Oasis – Desert Science Development team (Casey Mahoney, Shane Doherty, McKenna Palmer and Isa Ragland) took home the cash prize of $1,000 per team member among the three teams of graduating Masters of Real Estate Development students from Arizona State University’s W. P. Carey School of Business in the10th annual REIAC/Rockefeller Group Challenge. This year’s contest focused on preparing a development proposal for the vacant 218 acres owned by Mayo Clinic at 56th to 64th Streets and Mayo Blvd. in Phoenix. The other two finalist teams were Discovery Oasis – CORTEX (Jill Yen, Matt Howze, Ryan DuMars and Jimmy Hawkins) and Discovery Oasis – Echelon Development (Ann Johnson, Kolby Smith, Cody Deppen and Zach Jaffe).
6. The Arizona Association for Economic Development announced eight economic developers and business professionals from across the state have earned their AZED Pro designation from The Academy of Arizona. They are:

8. Reliance Steel & Aluminum Company has acquired all the outstanding equity shares of Southern Steel Supply of Memphis, Tenn. Southern will now operate as a subsidiary of Siskin Steel & Supply Company, which is, in turn, a subsidiary of Reliance.
9. Engineering consulting firm Alta Southwest has acquired Envirosure LLC, a leader in environmental, health and safety compliance.
10. Full-service general contracting firm TEPCON announced it is celebrating its 20th anniversary. TEPCON works in concert with facility and property managers and sees itself as an extension of a client’s internal team for all of its construction efforts.

11. Beau Brush has been promoted to VP of Construction Operations, Southwest Region at Ryan Companies US, Inc.
New Hires
12. Barry Gabel and Chris Marchildon have joined Newmark as Executive Managing Directors. The pair will partner with CJ Osbrink, Newmark Executive Managing Director, and are joined by Ryan Reading, Jamie Altholz, Amy Alschlager and Ada Rose Mancusi providing financial and market analysis, marketing and client services.
13. Jeffrey Garza Walker has joined NAI Horizon as an Executive VP. He will represent tenants and landlords in Metro Phoenix and the U.S. and investors in Latin America.
14. Pete Klees has joined Kidder Mathews’ Phoenix office as a Senior VP. He previously served as a senior director at Cushman & Wakefield.
15. Rosie Derryberry, Tanya Hoffman and Debbie Pontikas have joined residential real estate firm RETSY | Forbes Global Properties as Realtors.
In Memoriam
16. Cushman & Wakefield announced the passing of John C. Cushman, III, a member of Cushman & Wakefield’s founding family who passed away on May 4. “Over the course of his 60-year career, John’s iconic legacy in business, the commercial real estate industry and as a global citizen stands as a key pillar in Cushman & Wakefield’s history,” the announcement said.
