    Giving Back

    1. The Sundt Foundation awarded a total of $27.5K in grants to 10 Tucson-area nonprofits, including Student Expedition Program (STEP), during its fourth-quarter disbursements.

    Awards & Accolades

    2. Kidder Mathews’ Chairman and CEO, Jeff Lyon, has been honored as a Power 100 leader by the Puget Sound Business Journal in the publication’s inaugural Power 100 list. The list is made up of people who have built iconic companies on a global scale; they are innovators and visionaries in their industry.

    3. Newmark Knight Frank (NKF) announced that Managing Director Trisha Talbot, CCIM was awarded one of commercial real estate’s most prestigious designations, the Master of Corporate Real Estate (MCR), by CoreNet Global. Managing Director Kathleen Morgan, CCIM was previously awarded CoreNet Global’s MCR. Morgan ranked as one of the top five producing brokers in NKF’s Phoenix office for the past four years.

    4. The Greater Phoenix Chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) has announced its leadership and council members for 2020. Rosalinda Moehn, CPM, with NLR Management/Haan Development, will serve as president. The leadership team includes Tyrel Williams, CPM, MEB Commercial Management Group, president-elect; Brent Penrod, CPM, Eisenberg Company, treasurer/secretary; and Melissa Boyle, CPM, bkm Management Company, past president.

    5. STO Building Corporation and Layton Construction recently announced their intent for the nationally ranked commercial construction firm to join the STO family of companies. This merger will create the 4th largest construction company in the U.S. and will allow both firms to leverage each other’s geographic reach to better serve clients with multiple locations, and enhance the services and areas of expertise they can offer across that expanded footprint.

    6. HomeSmart has acquired Mid-Atlantic brokerage TriStar Realty, Inc. and its more than 650 agents. Its nationwide network is approaching 18,000 agents and its footprint increased to 190 office locations across 35 states.

    7. Restoration Builders, Inc. announced that it has completed an asset purchase agreement to officially acquire Built Strong Exteriors, LLC. Once complete, the Restoration Builders network will include a global infrastructure of offices, teams, equipment, trucks and other resources operating in tandem.

    8. Katerra Inc. is shutting down its 250KSF Phoenix building components factory at 624 N. 44th Ave, and cutting 200 jobs. The work done at a Phoenix plant will shift to a highly automated and lower-cost 577,000-square-foot factory it opened recently in Tracy, south of Stockton.

    9. Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers Inc. will put more than 3,200 construction equipment items and trucks on the block at its largest-ever auction in Phoenix on Dec. 12. The auction will be held at 5410 W. Lower Buckeye Rd and will begin at 8 a.m.

    10. Superstition Painting is a local and growing exterior repaint & new construction painting general contractor. During its first year, Superstition Painting has hired Dan Bennett as General Manager in early 2019. Mandy Cousins was brought on to spearhead Business Development & Marketing in June and Jennifer Stevens joined the team in November to lead the Estimating Department.

    Promotions

    11. Richard B. Kauffman was promoted to Chief Executive Officer of Holualoa Companies. Kauffman, who has been with Holualoa since 2000 in various finance and operational roles, previously served as the company’s Chief Financial Officer.

    12. David Meek has been promoted to Principal at Shepley Bulfinch.

    New Hires

    13. Layton Construction recently announced that Candace Rosauro has joined the company to further business development efforts in Layton’s Arizona business unit. Rosauro is a 13-year industry veteran with significant experience in business development. She has previously worked as an estimator and project manager and is a LEED Accredited Professional.

    14. The Phoenix office of JLL has hired industry veteran Patti Gentry as Senior Vice President. Gentry comes to JLL with three decades of commercial real estate experience, with specific expertise in the healthcare and medical office space.

    15. Paradigm Design, a National architectural and engineering firm, continues to expand their presence in their Phoenix office. As part of their growth strategy, they have hired Dawn Fortuna, AICP as a Senior Project Manager and Marie James as a Project Coordinator.

    16. RestorationHQ hired Kenneth Washington as the new Sales Director for the AZ market, and Mackenzie Haehl as the newest Business Development team member.

    17. Caliber-The Wealth Development Company has hired John Sabey as National Sales Director.

    18. Gammage & Burnham Attorneys at Law‘s, a dedicated practice group for Employment Law services, hired attorneys Julie A. Pace, David A. Selden, and Heidi Nunn-Gilman.

    19. Commercial Properties, Inc./CORFAC International (CPI), Arizona’s largest locally owned commercial real estate brokerage, announced the return of Eric Butler to the CPI Brokerage Team.
