Giving Back
1. For the fifth year in a row, Achen-Gardner sponsored and volunteered at the fall Sky Kids Fly Day Event for Special Kids held at Scottsdale Airport on November 3. This marks the twelfth local event for Sky Kids and for Achen-Gardner.
2. Achen-Gardner employees delivered turkeys to the United Food Bank and City of Mesa Great Turkey Tuesday event on November 20th.

3. During a special meeting on Nov. 9, Downtown Phoenix Inc. board of directors approved the appointment of Devney Preuss as new president and CEO, effective Jan. 1, 2019. Preuss succeeds retiring David Krietor, who led the organization since its formation in 2013.
4. The City of Glendale’s Office of Economic Development announced social media accounts through Twitter, Instagram and Facebook have been established. With the use of these social media platforms, the department aims to create additional channels to communicate with the community and partners regarding news, resources and announcements.

5. Phoenix City Manager Ed Zuercher has named Kini Knudson Street Transportation Director, overseeing citywide transportation planning; construction and maintenance of more than 5,000 miles of streets and related storm water infrastructure; and design and vertical construction of facilities across 519 square miles. Knudson has worked more than 18 years at the city, most recently as assistant street transportation director and city engineer.

6. A.R. Mays Construction recently announced six new hires. Joining the firm are: Jim Hayes, Project Executive; David Luken, Project Superintendent; Kristie Breeden, Project Manager; Shane Burroughs, Assistant Project Superintendent; Eric Furbacher; Assistant Project Superintendent; and Steven Goettl, Assistant Project Manager.
7. Skanska announced Sam Anderson has been hired as an assistant superintendent for its Phoenix office.
8. NorthMarq Multifamily announced Chris Michl has joined its national manufactured housing team based in Phoenix.
9. McCarthy Building Cos. announced Chris Jacobson, VP – project executive, has relocated to Ariz. from the firm’s Southern California region.
