The Queen Creek Unified School District will present a request to fund four major construction projects as part of its 2026 capital Plan.
The QCUSD Governing Board approved sending requests for two new elementary schools and two existing school expansions to the School Facilities Division for review earlier this month. Both additions are targeted for completion by 2031.
The two new elementary schools are planned to open by 2029 and will serve 750 K-6 students.
The District owns five vacant parcels. No specific sites have been chosen for the new schools, although all five are listed as potential locations.
Crismon Junior High and Crismon High School are both currently in development. The proposed additions would add space for 500 more students to each facility. Both schools are expected to open by 2031.
Demographic reviews for the District show the added space under the four requests will be needed in the next four years.
SFD will award money for its selected projects in December. Among its criteria is a demonstrated need for space within two years.
QCUSD has added more than 5,000 students in the last five years. For the current school year, enrollment has grown by 500 students, and total K-12 enrollment is expected to reach nearly 17,500 students by 2034-2035, which the capital plan reports to be a 20% increase.
Assuming SFD recommends and awards the District’s requests, the new construction will begin the following winter. (Source)
