The Glendale City Council recently approved annexation and rezoning for the Hopewell Industrial and Sonoma Cotton master plan proposals near Northern Avenue and Loop 303.
The two developments are part of multiple pending annexation requests in the area of Luke Air Force Base.
Hopewell Industrial
The Hopewell Industrial development will build a 1.6MSF, five-building industrial park on 104 acres at Reems Road and Northern Avenue.
Nearby residents spoke in opposition to the project due to traffic concerns on Alsup Road and worries about noise from the development’s operation and during the construction process.
Council member Joyce Clark expressed sympathy for the concerns but said the creation of the Loop 303 raised the value and prominence of land in the area, necessitating its development.
The Council voted unanimously to approve the request.
Sonoma Cotton
The Sonoma Cotton proposal looks to create a mixed-use project on 36 acres at the SEC of Northern Avenue and Cotton Lane.
Under the master plan, Sonoma Cotton will consist of 345KSF of warehouse, office and commercial space, as well as a 144-unit Build-to-Rent community.
This Council vote to approve was also unanimous. (Source)
