One of the last vacant, city-owned properties in downtown Chandler will be transformed into the city’s newest entertainment destination.
On Thursday, the Chandler City Council unanimously approved a development agreement with LGE Design Build for a 37.5KSF mixed-use development on the NEC of Buffalo Street and Arizona Avenue.
The Phoenix-based firm is proposing to build retail, restaurant and entertainment space at the site in the next five years.
The lot, known as Site 7, once housed a gas station and tire shop and is now used for parking.
LGE will rent the land from the city for five years and will have the option to purchase during the lease, according to the development agreement.
What is Proposed?
The city issued a request for proposals in May 2017 for a mixed-use development for the nearly two-acre property. LGE Design Build’s proposal was picked from three submissions.
LGE’s proposal includes:
- A one-story building with 7.5KSF of retail space.
- An attached two-story building with 30KSF of retail and entertainment space.
- On-site parking.
LGE Design Build must break ground on the project within three years of the agreement being signed. The project must be completed no more than two years after breaking ground, so in 2024.
