The Arizona Department of Transportation will host a pre-procurement conference/industry forum to discuss prospective future solicitations for a roadway project that is one of the major highway plans on the development horizon.
The Monday morning conference will cover improvements to Interstate 10 from State Route 202 to the Gila River Bridge. The Department’s official designation for the project is: Phoenix-Casa Grande Highway [Interstate 10 (I-10)] SR 202L (Santan/South Mountain) to Gila River Bridge Design-Build Capacity Improvements.
The new project is part of the Wild Horse Pass Corridor master plan and covers I-10 from the connection with Loop 202 in Chandler to the Gila River Bridge Replacement project near Bapchule in the Gila River Indian Community.
ADOT is asking interested design and construction industry representatives to meet Monday, Nov. 13 at the ADOT Human Resources Development Center, 1130 N. 22nd Ave., Phoenix. The meeting is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon, with doors opening at 9:30.
ADOT plans to release a Request for Qualifications the week of Dec. 11.
According to the announcement, during the Nov. 13 meeting, ADOT staff will deliver a presentation with details on the upcoming solicitation, including:
- Project scope,
- The anticipated RFQ,
- A tentative project procurement schedule, and
- A summary of ADOT’s design-build procurement process.
A question and answer period will follow the presentation.
The notice stresses participation in the meeting is not mandatory, nor is it a prerequisite for participating in the eventual project procurement.
For those familiar with the process, the notice says ADOT plans to use the contract template created in collaboration with Associated General Contractors that is currently in use for theI-10 Country Club Rd and Kino Pkwy TIs project as the basis for the request for proposals and the contract.
