Groundbreakings
1. Close on the heels of its 250KSF “Building 109” groundbreaking, SkyBridge Arizona has started construction on a second 250KSF building, “Building 108.” Together, the buildings bring the active Class A industrial construction at SkyBridge Arizona to a half-million square feet. SkyBridge Arizona is slated to become a first-of-its-kind Unified Cargo Processing facility, allowing users to complete on-site cargo inspections and processing so that shipments between the U.S. and Mexico can be expedited directly to their destinations in Mexico. Graycor is the general contractor. Leasing is through CBRE.
2. Dermody Properties announced a groundbreaking for Phase I of LogistiCenter at Copperwing at the Northern Parkway Expressway & Dysart Road in El Mirage. Phase I is the first two buildings, totaling 566.6KSF. The 961-acre site will have more than 10MSF of distribution space when completed.
3. On behalf of KBC Advisors Arizona, Stevens-Leinweber Construction has started construction on Empire 101, a new Class A industrial project in Peoria. When complete, Empire 101 will total 152,134SF at 89th Avenue and Sweetwater Road. It will feature 32’ clear height, 21 dock doors, a 185’ truck court and a 65KSF secured yard. Stevens-Leinweber Construction serves as Empire 101’s general contractor. Deutsch Architecture is the architect. Mike Ciosek and Eric Bell of Kidder Mathews are the leasing brokers. Completion is expected in January.
4. The Arizona Department of Transportation will begin a project this spring in Yavapai County to replace the bridge deck on State Route 169 over Interstate 17. The $6.2M project is scheduled to start April 24 and extend through fall 2023. The work includes replacing the SR 169 bridge deck, building a new concrete bridge deck, repairing erosion at the bridge abutments and replacing some sections of guardrail.
5. The Arizona Department of Transportation has begun a project to replace three miles of pavement on State Route 69 in Prescott Valley. The $4M project will involve replacing the top layer of pavement between Truwood and Stoneridge drives, from mileposts 287-290. The work will include updating sidewalk ramps and replacing damaged sidewalk segments. Work will continue through fall 2023.

6. ALDI will hold a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new store on Bell Road and 59th Avenue in Glendale on April 27.
