ABC will Sponsor Construction Safety Week

    By Associated Builders and Contractors

Associated Builders and Contractors today announced its sponsorship of Construction Safety Week 2025, which will take place May 5-9, as a call to action for the entire contracting community to commit to a safer industry.

“Total human health and safety are core values in building safer cultures, jobsites and employees, and a tangible way to improve those core values by participating in Construction Safety Week,” said Michael Bellaman, ABC president and CEO. “This week is much more than a campaign. It’s become a national movement to ensure every construction worker goes home safer, happier, healthier and fulfilled every single day.”

Construction Safety Week began in 2014 when more than 40 national and global construction firms, including more than a dozen ABC members, joined forces to promote jobsite safety. Today, Construction Safety Week has nearly 120 supporters, sponsors and advocates, more than 900 companies participating and hosting events, and has reached nearly 2.65 million people.

“Construction Safety Week showcases the construction industry at its best—united and driven by a shared commitment to protecting lives and ensuring safety on every jobsite,” said Mike Choutka, 2025 Chair of Construction Safety Week and CEO of Hensel Phelps. “This year’s theme, ‘All in Together,’ emphasizes the power of collaboration through its three key pillars: plan, own, commit. It’s a statement that safety is the foundation of success and that every team member is valued. Companies that demonstrate a commitment to safety are shaping the future of a stronger, safer industry for all.”

“ABC calls on the industry to place more emphasis on total human health, which creates the conditions for all employees to be fully present on the jobsite from a body, mind, heart and soul perspective,” said Greg Sizemore, ABC VP of health, safety, environment and workforce development. “One such tool is ABC’s STEP® Health and Safety Management System, which fully incorporates total human health, leading participants beyond observable safety behavior to the whole-person approach. We must also be relentless in ensuring every employee leaves the jobsite in the same or better condition than when they arrived.”
