Consultant J2 Engineering and Environmental Design recently delivered its feasibility study for a sports complex under consideration along Interstate 10 between Dysart Road and Bullard Avenue. The findings were then discussed by Goodyear City Council and Parks and Recreation officials. Goodyear obtained the 129-acre property from Maricopa County in 2016 with the condition that it use the site for recreational purposes and maintain the location’s flood control function. As originally reported by AZBEX last July, the initial plan by High Street Residential for the 8.5-acre site at Shea Blvd. and Scottsdale Road was to redevelop a retail lot into a 239-unit multifamily community. That plan was subsequently revised downward to 196 units, and the development was renamed from Sundown Commons to Cosanti Commons. DQD Demolition and Saw Cutting has announced several changes to its leadership lineup, triggered by the impending retirement of Founder and President Richard Dickens at the end of 2024. Dickens will take on a new role as Executive Chairman of the Board and will continue as a shareholder. By Associated Builders and Contractors Associated Builders and Contractors reported its Construction Backlog Indicator fell to 8.3 months in May, according to an ABC member survey conducted from May 20 to June 4. The reading is down 0.6 months from May 2023. Backlog declined on a monthly basis for every company size except those contractors with greater than $100M in annual revenues. On an annual basis, backlog is down for contractors of all sizes. ABC’s Construction Confidence Index readings for profit margins and staffing levels fell slightly in May, while the reading for sales improved. All three readings remain above…

In a June 10 announcement, “Arizona Senators Mark Kelly and Kyrsten Sinema applauded funding they helped secure for three aging infrastructure projects totaling $12.445M.” The funds provided by the Bureau of Reclamation will go toward modernizing outdated water systems to strengthen long-term reliability.
