The Arizona Department of Transportation can put a roundabout project at Cornville and Tissaw roads out to bid, following approval of additional construction and administration fees by the Yavapai County Board of Supervisors earlier this month.
The approved invoices totaled nearly $1.6M. Rights of way have been finalized, and additional actions are expected this summer.
Construction costs have increased across the board since the project, which will primarily serve to provide safe access into the Verde Santa Fe housing development, was initially proposed. ADOT’s requirement that the roundabout be designed to its specifications also added to costs, County officials said. They also said additional engineering costs were not a surprise, but the amount was greater than expected.
ADOT has finalized cost and schedule estimates and has proposed a total construction cost of $6.62M, with the County’s share set at slightly less than $4.1M.
Yavapai’s regional road fund will provide its portion of the project budget. Following approval of the $1.6M, a total of $21.16M remains in the fund. (Source)
