    Awards & Accolades

    1. For the fourth consecutive year, HILGARTWILSON has been ranked on Zweig Group’s Hot Firm List. The Hot Firm Award recognizes the 100 fastest-growing A/E/C firms in the United States and Canada. Rankings are based on both dollar and percentage of revenue growth over the previous three years. HILGARTWILSON earned the #27 spot this year (up from #39 in 2020) and is the only firm on the list with headquarters in Arizona.

    2. Craig Coppola was recently awarded the 2020 NAIOP Award of Excellence. The purpose of this award is to recognize an individual who has made extraordinary contributions to the Arizona commercial real estate market over his or her career.

    Boards & Commissions

    3. The Maricopa Association of Governments has elected new officers for the coming year. Mesa Mayor John Giles is the new chair. Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego will be MAG’s treasurer this year, while Carefree Mayor Les Peterson, Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke and El Mirage Mayor Alexis Hermosillo will serve as at-large members. Tempe City Manager Andrew Ching will be chair of the MAG Management Committee, with Phoenix City Manager Ed Zuercher as vice chair.

    Company News

    4. CCS Presentation Systems has turned 30 years old. Beginning as a two-person operation in 1991, CCS now has over 350 employees nationwide and annual revenue across the CCS group tops $160M dollars. CCS currently has 11 regional partnerships totaling 28 offices covering 40 states. All have extensive experience working with architects, consultants, general contractors, construction managers and end users to select, integrate and support audiovisual systems and unified communication systems.

    5. Clear Title Agency of Arizona continues fast paced growth by launching a new builder services division of the company. The new division strategically positions the locally owned company to better service a growing demand from already established and new builder clients in Arizona. In conjunction with the launch of the new division the company has hired a long-term industry veteran, Spencer Jesperson, to serve as Vice President of Builder Services.

    6. The Arizona Chapter of NAIOP announced a partnership with Build Your Future Arizona (BYF Arizona), whose mission is to attract more young people to the building trades profession due to the labor shortage in construction. BYF Arizona seeks to create a sustainable and skilled craft workforce by creating awareness about high paying construction careers and training opportunities and by mapping career paths to employment in these high demand occupations.

    7. Agate Construction announced today that they have added another office location, located at 9105 E. Del Camino Drive, Suite 108 in Scottsdale. For more than 45 years, Agate Construction has provided a full range of preconstruction and construction services including general contracting, budget development, safety program management and construction management, steel fabrication and erection, pre-engineered metal buildings, concrete and earthwork. Agate Construction’s headquarters remain at 2403 N. Country Club Drive in Scottsdale.

    Promotions

    8. McCarthy Building Companies announced that Brett Foster was promoted to preconstruction director. Over the last 7 years, Foster has worked on some of the firm’s largest self-perform construction projects. He brings this experience and his proven ability to add value to the preconstruction phase by maximizing the team’s vision and managing costs.

    9. Ye Zhang, PE, WELL AP has been promoted to the position of Electrical Engineering Department Manager for GLHN Architects & Engineers, Inc. Zhang joined GLHN’s growing Phoenix office in 2018, shortly after the firm moved into its new location at 3636 N. Central Avenue. Zhang has designed for clients such as Valley Metro, Arizona Department of Administration, and Arizona State University.

    10. Rodney Hanson, who has more than two decades of engineering experience, was named the team leader of Olsson’s General Civil team based in Phoenix. Hanson joined Olsson in 2004 and previously served as a site civil industry expert and General Civil team leader in the firm’s South Sioux City, Nebraska, office. He has a strong background working on municipal civil engineering projects in Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota.

    11. Colton Boudreaux has risen to the role of Senior Project Engineer at PENTA Building Group in Phoenix. In his new role, Boudreaux will see an elevated responsibility in his continued management of construction projects in the healthcare sector, as well as business development in the Arizona region. Boudreaux originally joined the PENTA team in fall of 2020.

    New Hires

    12. FCL Builders has tapped two experienced local executives to head up their new Arizona regional office. Kelly Pettigrew is a 23-year industry veteran with a background in large commercial and industrial work in Arizona, New Mexico and California and will lead the new office as Regional Vice President. Jeff Dalton joins the office as Vice President of Business Development and Pre-Construction with 30+ years in large scale commercial projects throughout the western states.

    13. Spectra Electrical Services announced that Marvin Manley has been hired on as Project Manager and Lacy Rackley has been hired on as Assistant Project manager. Manley has worked in the electrical and construction industries for most of his life, except for a six year “break” to serve our country as a United States Marine. Rackley brings an eye for detail along with an emphasis on client communication. Her focus is to provide engineering support for the Project Management team.

    Transition

    14. Percy Kirk has joined Cox Communications as senior vice president and region manager for the Southwest region, overseeing Cox operations and more than 4,300 Cox employees.  Most recently, Kirk led Cox’s Central Region, based in Oklahoma. Kirk returns to Arizona where he previously held the position of Cox Arizona’s vice president of network operations.
