There has been no communication on a proposed Sprouts Farmer’s Market as part of the Papago Plaza redevelopment at the SWC of McDowell and Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale.
Officials with Scottsdale Development Services say plans were submitted in Jan. 2023 but that no updates have been received since, according to local news outlets.
The DATABEX project database has the project listed as a 23.5KSF grocery store and a 328 space parking garage, with Pivot Development Company as the developer and Nelsen Partners as the design firm.
Sprouts entered into an agreement to develop the Papago Plaza location in Aug. 2022, and it was to be Sprouts’ first integrated two-story building topped with a parking garage. Pivot officials said last year the Sprouts was expected to be finished in late 2024.
The Sprouts location is not the only Papago Plaza component sitting in limbo. Pivot is the development partner for the Phase I retail and restaurant development of the site, which is planned to include the Sprouts store and 25KSF of additional restaurant/retail space. Local news sources reported a little more than a year ago that permits for the project were facing expiration.
As of Feb. 2024, DATABEX cited Scottsdale permitting in reporting construction remained on hold with no new permits issued.
