Before it submits its proposal to develop a new Flagstaff Medical Center Campus near Beulah Avenue, Northern Arizona Healthcare is holding an ongoing series of meetings to explain its plans to community members.
NAH wants to build a hospital and ambulatory care center to replace the current Flagstaff Medical Center downtown. The proposed new campus will occupy 700KSF, 150KSF-175KSF of which will be for the ACC. Funding for the $750M project would be $450M in bonds and $300M in cash. All costs would be borne by NAH.
The ACC is planned for a 2024 opening, with the hospital to follow in 2026. The overall campus would ultimately comprise 188 acres under NAH’s 20-to-25-year vision for a “health village,” which would include outpatient facilities, 177 residential units, retail and lodging and other hospitality uses.
NAH submitted its zoning application in April and has held several meetings this summer with community associations, as well as with city agencies and other stakeholders.
Design work has begun. HKS Architects has been named as the design firm, and general contracting will be provided by a partnership between McCarthy Building Companies and Loven Contracting, Inc.
Items discussed in the participation meetings include working with Mountain Line for public transit access and the widening of Beulah Avenue to accommodate increased traffic at the campus.
Public participation meetings will continue through September and October. NAH plans to submit its proposal to the City of Flagstaff afterward and is hoping for approval early in 2022. Representatives have said they hope to break ground in late summer of next year. (Source)
