As the next iteration of Mayo Clinic’s “Bold. Forward. Unbound.” campaign to bring about the next generation of healthcare, the hospital innovator is planning a $1.9B expansion of its north Phoenix campus that will add 1.2MSF of space and 3,500 more jobs.
Mayo Clinic Arizona CEO Dr. Richard Gray said it will be the firm’s largest Arizona investment to date.
The new expansion, which is separate from the Discovery Oasis master plan, will increase overall clinical space by 59%, increase the number of operating rooms by 31% and significantly add to the number of CT and MRI scanners, increasing the total counts by 44% and 62%, respectively.
A total of 48 new hospital rooms will be added to the west tower that was part of the last $748M expansion. A fourth tower of 360KSF will be built on the east side.
The current 40KSF Building 2, located between the east and west tower sites, will be expanded to 100KSF, reaching a total of seven floors above ground.
Underground parking with 1,000 spaces will be developed and create a single entrance, rather than the three separate entrances currently serving the existing buildings. A two-story promenade will be put in place to connect all three buildings.
McCarthy Building Companies will serve as general contractor. The design firm is Gensler.
The project has been approved by the Mayo Clinic Board of Trustees and is expected to deliver by 2031. (Source)
