Developer Overland Property Group is continuing its efforts to bring a 72-unit affordable and market-rate housing multifamily complex and a Natural Grocers market to Payson.
The project is dependent on state funding but was passed over last year.
OPG representatives, along with the property site owner and representatives of Natural Grocers, hosted a public information session in Payson last week to present the project to the public and drum up support.
The Reserves on the Rim development would deliver five three-story apartment buildings, a 3KSF community center and a small grocery store focused on natural and organic foods at Malibu Drive and Highway 87.
Once built, 48 of the 72 units would be income restricted for households earning between $18.4K and $46.2K.
OPG said their projects are designed to the highest standards and built so as not to look like affordable housing.
Representatives said the construction plan is to work with the existing grade on the site to the fullest extent possible and to use as many local contractors as they can.
If the project receives the necessary state funding, it could be ready in the first half of 2026, according to OPG. To make the application as attractive as possible, project representatives are soliciting letters of support from community members. OPG said the process is highly competitive and that the state awarded $20M in project funding last year to an applicant pool that totaled $60M in requests.
Funding awards should be announced in early June. (Source)
