Deer Valley Unified School District is looking for help to develop a new Elementary School on approximately 14 acres located at the intersection of Inspiration Mountain Parkway and Pinnacle Vista Drive in Phoenix.
The school district recently published a Request for Qualifications for Construction Manager at Risk (CM@R) and construction services for the $20.3M school, called Elementary School No. 32.
“The purpose of the Request for Qualifications is to obtain qualification proposals for pre-construction and construction services necessary for design assistance and construction of Elementary School No. 32,” the RFQ states. “The CM will be required to work with District and the District’s Architectural firm, as team members.” SPS+ Architects was chosen as the design firm on the project.
The school will serve a population of about 1,000 students. It will include six buildings – one administration building, one multipurpose building and four classroom buildings – and will total approximately 98.3KSF. The buildings will be placed around a centrally located courtyard.
A pre-submittal conference and campus walk-thru is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on October 27th, 2020 at 21421 North 21st Avenue, Phoenix. “The conceptual site plan and lay out will be provided at the pre-submittal conference meeting,” according to the RFQ.
A final amendment will be issued after the meeting on October 29th, 2020, and all Statements of Qualifications will be due no later than 2:00 p.m. on November 10th, 2020. The district anticipates the Governing Board awarding the contract to the most qualified CM@R by December 8th, 2020.
According to the preliminary project schedule in the RFQ, drawings are expected to be complete in February 2021. The district anticipates there will be a Guaranteed Maximum Price contract, and the RFQ shows a tentative date of April 27th, 2021 for the Governing Board to approve the GMP. Construction is anticipated to begin in June 2021 and take about a year to complete.
