By BNSF Logistics Park Phoenix
BNSF is working hard to make sure Logistics Park Phoenix meets Arizona’s needs.
To that end, and in coordination with Supervisor Debbie Lesko and the District 4 office, we’ve asked the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors to move the upcoming vote on the Major Comprehensive Plan Amendment for the project from Aug. 20 to Nov. 5. This continuance will allow the rezoning and Comprehensive Plan Amendment applications to be heard together.
The Board of Supervisors will vote on this continuance request at the Aug. 20 meeting.
In the meantime, BNSF will continue working closely with State, County and local transportation agencies to finalize the traffic impact analysis for the project. With the analysis in hand, and in partnership with transportation agencies, BNSF will be making infrastructure commitments for both local and regional roadways.
In addition, BNSF has made several important updates to the project:
- Fewer access points to help ease traffic in surrounding neighborhoods;
- Expanded building setbacks and natural open space buffers to protect nearby properties;
- Dark Sky lighting standards to reduce light pollution;
- Lower building heights in warehousing areas to minimize visual impacts, and
- Core operations are located more than half a mile from the nearest homes.
As the project moves forward, BNSF remains focused on thoughtful planning, clear communication and building a stronger, more resilient supply chain for Arizona. We thank those who have shown support for the project and appreciate Supervisor Lesko’s leadership regarding this continuance request and for working collaboratively with BNSF.
