Groundbreakings
1. Overland Group’s Avondale Commons, a 22.6- acre mixed-use development on the NWC of Avondale Blvd. and McDowell Road is set to start construction. The project consists of four luxury apartment buildings, a hotel, two restaurants, four office buildings and several retail shops. The first portion of the four-building, 39.7KSF medical office complex is underway and anticipated to deliver in Q2 2024.
2. IndiCap and AECOM-Canyon Partners held a groundbreaking recently for Eastmark Center of Industry, a 113-acre industrial park in Mesa. At completion, the park will total 10 buildings and more than 1.6MSF.
3. Logistics Property Company disclosed its plans to break ground on the 613KSF Pecos Gateway Industrial Complex in December. Construction is expected to take 12-13 months.
4. Prologis Inc. has broken ground on the second development phase at the 275KSF+ Prologis I-17 Logistics Center at Maricopa Freeway and 7th Street.
5. Keystone Homes AZ broke ground earlier this month on Havenly Superstition in Apache Junction. The 166-unit Build-to-Rent development will release the first block of 50 homes in the first half of 2024.
Progress Reports
6. Mattel Adventure Park owner Epic Resort Destinations has announced the park – located next to the VAI Resort site in Glendale – will open sometime in 2023.
7. Adolfson & Peterson Construction and Douglas Unified School District #27 topped out Douglas High School, marking the midpoint of the school’s expansion and renovation. The $22M project includes four new buildings totaling 87.5KSF.
Completions
8. The 312-unit Copa Flats affordable apartment community in Maricopa is nearing completion and will begin leasing next month.
9. The Phoenix Children’s Hospital hosted an event for more than 2,300 attendees to celebrate the grand opening of the hospital’s new location next to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. More than 90 companies served as sponsors, and The Rosendin Foundation provided volunteers to assist with the event.
