    Giving Back

    1. Western Wealth Communities and Western Wealth Capital have used their annual Rent-Free Christmas program to provide free rent in December for 58 deserving families. As part of the program, 14 families also received a full Christmas package, including food vouchers and presents for the whole family.

    2. CDC Small Business Finance is the No. 1 U.S. Small Business Administration lender among 7A and 504 firms for fiscal year 2021. It is also Arizona SBA 504 Lender of the Year for the fourth straight year. A total of $793.7M was financed in commercial real estate, more than 8MSF of commercial real estate was financed, and 7,446 jobs were created and preserved.

    3. Sharon Harper, chair & CEO of Plaza Companies has received Commercial Executive Magazine’s Executive of Excellence award.

    4. Barry Gabel, executive VP with CBRE Institutional Properties, has been named Commercial Executive Magazine’s Broker of the Decade.

    5. Sharon Bonesteel, building energy codes project manager at Salt River Project, was one of the winners of the Breakthrough Woman of the Year Award from The U.S. Energy Storage Association.

    Company News

    7. Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and Greystar Real Estate Partners, LLC have formed a new joint venture to develop and acquire purpose-built single-family rental communities in the United States. The companies have allocated approximately $840M in equity to the joint venture. CPP Investments will own a 95% stake and Greystar will own the remaining 5%.

    8. Renowned Sedona builder Phil Morris has passed away at age 84. Morris Company’s portfolio included such projects as Enchantment Resort, Los Abrigados, the Verde Valley Medical Center Sedona Campus, Hillside Shopping Center, Inn Above Oak Creek, El Rojo Grande Ranch, and Ambiente: A Landscape Hotel.
