1. The Society for Marketing Professional Services Arizona Chapter announced the 2025 Phelix Award winners, honoring excellence in A/E/C marketing, business development and leadership. Firm Awards were:
- Arizona Builder’s Exchange (AZBEX): Grand Phelix,
- Burns & McDonnell for Corporate Identity,
- Achen-Gardner Construction for Newsletter/Publication,
- Canyon State Electric for Social Media,
- Speedie & Associates for Advertising and
- KE&G Construction for Retention and Recruitment.
Individual winners were:
- Shannon Kopp: Marketer/Business Developer of the Year;
- Jessica Dresang: Firm Leader of the Year;

2. AVI-SPL has acquired CCS Presentation Systems Southwest, a Mesa-based AV design and systems integration firm. CCS Southwest, which served the Arizona market for 34 years, will expand AVI-SPL’s unified communications and AV service capabilities in the region. The acquisition gives CCS clients access to AVI-SPL’s global operations and Symphony platform.
Promotions
3. Hancock Builders announced Founder Greg Hancock will transition from CEO into the role of Chairman, while Kelly Whiteley (formerly Kelly Ward), one of the few women leading a major residential construction firm in the Southwest, has been named CEO.
4. Lee Mason has been promoted to President of All 5’s Construction, where he will oversee profitability, operations and market expansion. He previously served as Project Executive at a large general contractor and had been with that firm since 2011. Mason is also a 23-year member of the Carpenter’s Union.
New Hires
5. David Malia has joined Rafael Construction Inc. as Senior Estimator. Malia has 13 years of estimating experience in the Arizona market across a wide range of projects.
6. Nicole Matt has been hired as Marketing Director at Small Giants, where she will lead traditional and digital media strategy. She has nearly 19 years of experience in agency sales, communications and marketing, and will support client branding and growth initiatives across the firm’s Phoenix and Denver offices.
