    Giving Back

    1. Employees of Brycon recently volunteered at St. Mary’s Food Bank, where they participated in the “Neighbor Distribution” event. The team filled more than 100 grocery carts with food and helped deliver them to recipients’ vehicles.

    2. AZAGC announced three new board members: Victor Jimenez, President of Pulice Construction, Inc.; Dig Karki, Senior VP of Hunter Contracting Company, and Travis McCarthy, Senior VP and Southwest Regional Manager of the Transportation Group at Sundt Construction, Inc.

    Company News

    3. Flagstaff-based Loven Contracting is celebrating its 40th anniversary on Oct. 21. In honor of the anniversary, the company held a celebration with 300 guests on Aug. 9 at the Elks Lodge.

    Promotions

    4. Sunstate Equipment announced four major leadership promotions:

    • Jeremy Banks, Regional VP of the Southwest;
    • Ryan Moore, Regional VP of the South Central;
    • Daniel Tentrup, Regional Director of Sales & Marketing for the South Central and
    • Jeffery Turley, Regional Director of Sales & Marketing for the Southwest.

    5. The City of Buckeye announced Doug Sandstrom will serve as its new City Manager. Sandstrom has served as the Deputy City Manager for more than a year and has more than 30 years of experience in government. He was appointed during the Aug. 26 City Council meeting.

    New Hires

    6. The Greater Phoenix Economic Council Board of Directors announced Christine Mackay has been appointed as the new President & CEO of the organization, effective Oct. 13. Mackay has served as the Community and Economic Development Director for the City of Phoenix since August of 2014.

    7. Martin P. Leitner has been hired by Nadel Architects as its new Principal and Director of Multifamily and Urban Infill Housing. Leitner has more than 20 years of experience in commercial development, transit-oriented communities and suburban redevelopment.

    8. triARC architecture & design announced Paul Schmidt has been hired as a Project Manager. Schmidt has more than 25 years of experience in the industry and has worked on various cultural, hospitality and mixed-use projects.

    9. Joe Horn has joined Colliers Engineering & Design as a Project Manager on the Land Use Planning team. Horn has more than 20 years of experience in land planning, zoning, site design and entitlements. He previously worked for the City of Casa Grande for nine years, where he managed planning and zoning entitlements for industrial, commercial and residential projects.

    10. Mario Paniagua has been appointed as an Assistant Town Manager for the Town of Gilbert. Paniagua will oversee various departments, such as Parks & Recreation, the Office of Management and Budget, and Finance and Management Services. His career began with the City of Phoenix in 1998.

    In Memorium

    11. Michael Polachek, a veteran of more than 50 years in commercial real estate and noted philanthropist, died July 30 in Scottsdale at age 78 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Polachek was Executive VP and Co-Market Leader in the Phoenix office of SRS Real Estate Partners, where he had worked since 2009. Earlier in his career, he held leadership roles with Grubb & Ellis, Trammell Crow Company and RED Development.
