Groundbreakings
1. Becker Development and Consulting LLC, along with its client, Rose Acre Farms, held a groundbreaking ceremony for its second egg production farm named Desert Valley Egg Farm in La Paz County. Rose Acre Farms will start construction of Desert Valley Egg Farm in fall 2023, investing more than $100M on the farm, which is expected to be complete by 2026.
2. Stillwater Capital Investments and equity partner Rosewood Property Company have begun construction on a 352-unit multifamily development tentatively called Stillwater Rivulon in Gilbert. The general contractor is MT Builders. OMNIPLAN is the architect. Interior design is by B2, and Greey Pickett is the landscape architect. Completion is targeted for late 2024.
3. Mohr Capital and Rosewood Property Company have started construction on West Summit Logistics Park, a two-building, 704.5KSF industrial development on 46 acres in Surprise. The general contractor is a joint venture between Nitti Builders and Del Amo Construction, and the architect is Ware Malcomb. Completion is targeted for Q2 of next year.
4. Pride Ventures’ Ovio at Sycamore Station, a 191-unit luxury multifamily community, broke ground this week in Mesa. The community will open for residents in Fall 2025 and be managed by Mark-Taylor Residential.
5. Wespac Construction Inc., Flagstaff, broke ground on the Taawaki Inn, a two-story, 44 room boutique hotel in Clarkdale. Owned by Hopi Tribe Economic Development Corporation, the Smith Architects-designed project is slated for completion in spring 2024.
6. Belgravia Group has announced the groundbreaking for Portico North Scottsdale, the 112-home condominium development it is building near Scottsdale Road and the Loop 101 freeway. Portico is part of the One Scottsdale master-planned mixed-use development.
7. Construction will begin May 22 on the Shultz Creek Road portion of Flagstaff’s Inner Basin Waterline Restoration Project to repair damages inflicted by the Pipeline Fire in 2022.
Progress Reports
8. The Arizona Department of Transportation is set to begin the final phase of a $34M project repaving 10 miles of State Route 77 between Tucson and Oro Valley. On May 14, crews will begin replacing about three miles of worn pavement between Ina Road and the Rillito River Bridge just south of River Road.
Completions
9. Pima Community College recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open its new 100KSF, $35M Advanced Manufacturing Building on the downtown campus. Part of the Centers of Excellence initiative, the facility will house several technical education programs, including mining, advanced manufacturing and robotics, as well as a Flexible Industry Training Lab for worker training on specialized equipment.
10. Toll Brothers Apartment Living, along with partner The Davis Companies, has completed Callia, a 403-unit luxury multifamily community at 4110 N. Central Ave. in Phoenix. Building design was by Biltform Architecture, with interior design by Streetsense.
11. The Opus Group and joint venture partner Griffin Capital Company have delivered Phase I of the 335-unit Melody on Main apartment community in Mesa. Two of the planned five buildings are now complete. MT Builders is the general contractor, and P.B. Bell will serve as the management company.
