    Groundbreakings

    1. The Milwaukee Brewers along with City of Phoenix and community partners broke ground on the renovation project for Maryvale Baseball Park in Phoenix. The Brewers will invest $56-$60M in the construction phase of the program. Phoenix will allocate $2M each year for the next five years for renovations, and the Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority will contribute approximately $5.7M.

    2. Construction started in mid-February on Gilbert’s new $14M, 600-space Heritage District Parking Garage.

    3. Canyon Building & Design announced the groundbreaking of two new ground up hotels in Phoenix. It will construct the 4-story, 128-room Holiday Inn Express and the 4-story, 119-room Home2 Suites on 44th Street just south of Loop 202.

    4. hardison/downey Construction Inc. recently broke ground on the Pearl Biltmore, a collection of 472 upscale apartment units at 24th Street & Highland for developer The Morgan Group. The project, designed by CCBG Architects, will be complete in the summer of 2020.

    6. With a new, wider bridge carrying Ajo Way (State Route 86) over Interstate 19 and an interchange design managing traffic with one set of signals, the Arizona Department of Transportation is wrapping up the first phase of improvements for an area south of downtown Tucson. Phase 2 will start this summer and last 18 months.

    7. Cushman & Wakefield and ViaWest Group have announced that PODS Moving and Storage will be moving into a 106KSF build-to-suit at AZ 202 Commerce Center. ViaWest Group developed the building, with Alexander Building Company as the general contractor.

    8. Cancer Treatment Centers of America is expanding its Valley network with the opening of two outpatient care centers this month, with a third Valley location planned later this year. The North Phoenix Center opened March 12. The Scottsdale Center will open March 26.

    9. The Statesman Group announced the completion of the second phase of construction at the $90M community The Cays at Downtown Ocotillo in Chandler. The second phase includes a 9.5KSF clubhouse and two new model homes.

    10. Mattress maker King Koil will open its first owned and operated manufacturing facility in a new 90KSF plant at 127th Avenue and Van Buren Street in April.

    11. IAC Industries, an industrial and laboratory furniture company, is moving into a 50KSF building on Bullard Avenue near the Phoenix-Goodyear Airport. The new facility should be fully operational by early May.
