Awards & Accolades
1. Beth Katz with KatzDesignGroup has been awarded two Network of Executive Women in Hospitality awards. Her first was given for the transformation of LATHA Restaurant & Bar in the 1900 Silva House at Heritage Square, which earned the Best Stand-Alone Restaurant Award. Her second award was the TOP Interior Design award for 2024, which she also won in 2022.
Groundbreakings
2. The Trailhead, a 140KSF mixed-use development in Peoria, has broken ground after seven years of preparation. Pederson Group Inc. is the developer and Zach Pace and Cameron Warren of Phoenix Commercial Advisors handled the leasing. Butler Design Group is the architect and Campbell Development is the general contractor. Construction of Phase I is expected to finish at the end of 2024. Eighty percent of the more than $100M space has been leased, with components including a 63KSF Safeway and a 350-unit multifamily development.
3. Pentagon Technologies Group Inc. has invested $50M into a new semiconductor cleaning facility that has broken ground in Mesa. The 65.5KSF facility is located in View 202 and is expected to be operational in Q4.
4. Exceptional Healthcare announced the groundbreaking of a new hospital on 10 acres of land in Eloy. The hospital is expected to be 30KSF and has nine private rooms, an 11-room emergency department and will provide a range of medical services. Construction is expected to finish in January 2025.
5. Achen-Gardner Construction began construction on Optima Gravity Sewer, an 11KLF large diameter sewer line and 64 manhole projects in Scottsdale.
6. The IDSDC board announced the groundbreaking of the 23KSF International Dark Sky Discovery Center to begin in April and complete late summer of 2025 in Fountain Hills. The IDSDC has a $25M fundraising goal and has thus far raised approximately $19M.
7. Keystone Homes broke ground on The Havenly Gilbert a 157-home rental community offering eight different floor plans in Gilbert. This marks the fourth Havenly Community from Keystone Homes.
Progress Reports
8. HonorHealth recently celebrated two topping ceremonies in its $170M expansion of HonorHealth Deer Valley. Team members signed the final steel beams before placement on the first two phases in the project: A nearly 23KSF Support Services building and a two-story, 14KSF expansion of the surgical area to add four new operating rooms and additional lab space. Both phases will be completed this year. The final phase will include a new four-story 166KSF tower with new patient rooms and the expansion and renovation of key departments.
Completions
9. Tucson Medical Center Rincon has completed construction in Tucson. TMC Health celebrated the completion of the more than 132KSF hospital that offers 60 beds for medical, facility and maternity beds. There are also four operating rooms.
10. TerraLane Communities announced the completion of TerraLane at Canyon Trails South, a 297-home rental community in Goodyear. Mark Taylor manages property management and leasing.
11. MC Companies announced the completion of The Place at Arroyo Verde, a 156-unit apartment community in Tucson. The Place offers studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom units ranging between 764SF to 1,408SF. The total construction cost is approximately $34M. Carlyle Investment Management LLC was the investment firm. Clark Wayland is the general contractor. Dean Alan Architects was the project architect. National Bank of Arizona provided the loan, and MC Residential is the property manager.
12. Navitus Health Solutions LLC and Lumicera Health Services opened their 39KSF facility in Scottsdale. The facility will support 80,000 shipments of specialty medications each year. Venn Construction was the general contractor and Potter Lawson was the architect.
13. The City of Maricopa announced the completion of Lake View Park, a public facility that offers a pair of picnic ramadas, a playground and two little league baseball fields.
