Groundbreakings
1. CapRock Partners announced the groundbreaking of Phase Two at CapRock West 202 Logistics. This is the final phase of the 825KSF warehouse distribution and logistics space project. The three-building project is at the NEC of N. 59th Ave. and West Van Buren Street in Phoenix. The project has a planned completion date of November of this year. Colliers’ Payson MacWilliam and Don MacWilliam are leading the leasing efforts.
2. LivAway Suites and West77 Partners announced the groundbreaking of an extended-stay hotel in Tolleson. This is one of six planned LivAway Suites locations planned in Arizona this year, with the companies planning to invest around $100M in the Grand Canyon State in the next two years.
3. The Surprise Community & Resource Center at 15808 N. Hollyhock St. in Surprise is now officially under construction. The 35KSF community center will cost $26M. The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors provided $18M in funding. The project is expected to be completed by spring 2026.
4. Western Maricopa Education Center broke ground on its Northeast Campus expansion at 1617 W. Williams Dr. in Phoenix. The $13.5M expansion includes a 16.5KSF manufacturing/welding facility and a 2KSF electric vehicle bay. Orcutt | Winslow designed the project. McCarthy Building Companies Inc. is the general contractor. The project is expected to be finished before the fall semester.
Completions
5. Construction is completed at Northbend, a 310-unit community featuring three apartment buildings in Tempe. McShane Construction Company built the development on behalf of Banyan Residential and Milhaus. The project was designed by Todd & Associates.
6. The Haven, formerly the Phoenix Inn near 27th and Northern avenues in Phoenix, has officially opened. The shelter is dedicated to unhoused seniors aged 55 and older and can provide housing for up to 170 people at a time. Central Arizona Shelter Services is running the property. Renovations began in 2021.
