Sun Life Health has announced plans for a four-story healthcare and education campus on 10 acres at the SWC of Florence Blvd. and Henness Road in Casa Grande. Planned elements include up to 90 primary care examination rooms, a women’s health center and clinic with 25 exam rooms, and behavioral and pediatric health facilities. The educational space will target providing medical professionals with hands-on experience, including residency programs, externships and clinical rotations. Design plans are expected “in the coming months” and will seek planning and zoning and City Council approvals before construction. (Source)
A City of Phoenix plan to redevelop a 12.1-acre infill site at the SWC of 24th Street and Broadway road took another step forward late last month. In a Jan. 25 meeting, the Economic Development and Equity Subcommittee approved a motion to let the City issue a request for proposals to develop the site, part of the “Four Corners” intersection, which Phoenix has been trying to redevelop for at least two decades. Thirty-two states had lower unemployment rates over the same period, Iowa and Missouri were unchanged and 16 states were higher. National NSA payroll construction employment was 242,000 higher than in December 2021. Heritage Academy is currently gauging interest in the possibility of adding a new K-5 elementary school in Maricopa. The education provider is soliciting signatures from families with elementary-aged children to foster momentum. Heritage Academy is a tuition-free public charter school that promotes a four-day school week and small class sizes. It began operating in Maricopa in 2019. School officials said they will evaluate interest and then talk about possible locations and construction dates “in a couple of months.” (Source)
By Associated Builders and Contractors The construction industry added 25,000 jobs on net in January, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of data released today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. On a year-over-year basis, industry employment has risen by 294,000 jobs, an increase of 3.9%. Nonresidential construction employment increased by 19,300 positions on net, with growth in two of the three subcategories. Nonresidential specialty trades added 16,500 net new jobs, while nonresidential building added 4,000 positions. Heavy and civil engineering lost 1,200 jobs for the month.
