Auto Collision Repair Facility Planned in Gilbert

Platinum Paint and Body has submitted a proposal to the Town of Gilbert to build an auto collision repair facility within the Depot at Power Ranch, a commercial subdivision just west of the NWC of Power and Pecos Roads.

The new facility will be a 45KSF two-story indoor auto repair shop. The first floor will be the auto body shop, which will feature 24 service bays, and the second floor will be office space. The service bays will be accessed via 10 roll-up doors located on the east, north and west sides of the building. Platinum Paint and Body also has plans to develop a 9.3KSF single story office building at a later date.

The building materials will consist mostly of metals and masonry in neutrals —light and dark greys and tans. According to the town documents, “this is the first development in this commercial subdivision and therefore sets the overall design tone.” Because of this, the town’s planning staff is requesting more input from the town commission on design and style plans for the area before approval is made at this stage.

The 7.76-acre vacant site is just part of the 69 acres that make up the Depot at Power Ranch. The property is zoned as General Commercial with a Planned Area Development. According to city documents, auto collision repair facilities are allowed under the General Commercial designation along with a Conditional Use Permit. Consequently, the developer is requesting a CUP for a “Vehicle Services – Heavy” use as part of the General Commercial zoning of the area.

The uniquely-shaped site is bordered to the north by railroad tracks and Rittenhouse Road. Pecos Road runs on the southern edge of the site. There’s also vacant property and the Power Ranch residential community. To the east is the railroad, Rittenhouse Road and Power Road. Vacant property lies west of the site.

If approved, this Gilbert location will be the second in the area. There is already a location in Queen Creek.
