    Groundbreakings

    1. Electronic Responsible Recyclers, or ER2, and its sister company, Revive IT, began construction on a $5M, 40KSF expanded facility in Mesa. The addition will increase inventory space, allow the company to consolidate processing operations and increase dock space. The building is expected to be occupied by the end of October.

    2. Construction is underway on the first phase of Tucson Cannabis Campus, a project envisioned as an eventual 440KSF facility on 16 acres of industrial land at 8000 S. Rita Rd, Tucson. Phase I will create about 40KSF of indoor grow space and about 50 jobs.

    3. Monday, city officials and representatives from an architectural firm and construction company turned the initial dirt on an $8.6M renovation of the 28-acre Carr McNatt Park, between 10th Ave. and McMurray Blvd., and between Casa Grande and Brown Ave. Improvements will be a covered playground, splash pad, nine new ramadas, new restrooms and a meandering sidewalk. The renovations will be completed this fall.

    4. The Florence Copper Project has recently commenced in-situ copper recovery operations at their test facility.

    Progress Reports

    5. Nearly two years after major construction began on the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway, construction heads into the home stretch in 2019. With design and construction nearly two-thirds complete, crews have installed 20 miles of drainage pipe, laid 107K tons of asphalt pavement, moved 9.9M cubic yards of dirt and used 10.8K tons of steel rebar for bridges, walls and other structures. The project is slated to open as early as late 2019.

    6. On January 7, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to open the second component of the PSHIA Terminal 3 Modernization Program – a brand new concourse and remodeled terminal processor. The project has one additional phase remaining which includes the renovation of the North Concourse and is slated to be complete in 2020.

    Completions

    7. Hines will celebrate the official grand opening of the 250KSF, Class A Offices at Chandler Viridian on January 15, 2019 at 11 a.m. The ceremony will include Chris Anderson, Hines managing director; City of Chandler representatives and executives representing tenants.

    8. ADOT has recently finished a $3.8M project to landscape the south half of the I-10/Loop 303 interchange. As part of the landscaping, crews have spread more than 600K square yards of gold-highlighted decorative rock throughout the south half of the interchange.

    9. Grand Canyon University recently unveiled its 150KSF Colangelo building. The first two floors of the structure opened in August for classes, while construction continued on the top floors, lobby area and exterior. Now, the building is fully open for the first time on all floors. Suoll Architects designed the project while Pono Construction was general contractor.

    10. Christian Care Cos. is investing $84M in a 313-unit senior living campus at 16477 W Bell Rd, Surprise. Construction on the project began in October 2016 and is expected to be completed this month. The architect is Reece Angell Rowe Architects, Ltd., and the contractor is MTV General Contractors, Inc.
