American Express is creating a fourth building on its 90-acre Desert Ridge campus at 56th Street and Mayo Boulevard in North Phoenix.
According to information provided to AZBEX by Lauren Brogie, manager of public affairs for AMEX, the new four-story, 300KSF-plus building will be located on the north side of the campus, closest to Mayo Boulevard and “will have four wings, an outdoor common area and a modern and collaborative work environment.” There are currently three buildings on the campus.
The company opened its first parking garage on the campus this month after starting construction earlier in the year. AMEX announced to employees late in 2017 it would create the expansion building and two new parking facilities. The parking structures are five stories tall and will provide a total of 3,500 stalls to augment surface parking on the campus.
The new building and second parking structure are both slated for completion in late 2019, Brogie said. When finished, roughly 3,000 employees move from a leased facility on North 31st Avenue and occupy the new building.
American Express opened its first Phoenix-area travel office in 1961 and now employs more than 7,100 people in the Valley, making it one of the area’s largest employers.
