Giving Back
1. Achen-Gardner sponsored three community events in November. The Sky Kids Fly Day Event at the Scottsdale Municipal Airport on Nov. 12 allowed special needs kids to experience the wonder and enjoyment of flight. The annual Litchfield Park and Glendale Touch-A-Truck events on Nov. 19 gave kids of all ages the opportunity to see and touch the equipment and learn all about construction.
Awards & Accolades
2. Gary J. Nelson, an architect who works in Phoenix’s Office of the City Engineer, was recently awarded the prestigious Architects Medal by the American Institute of Architects Arizona Chapter. Since the award’s inception in 1981, he is the first African American to receive this honor. Nelson also is the first African American architect to be employed by the City of Phoenix.
Promotions
3. PCL Construction in Tempe has promoted Jesus Angulo to Business Development Manager of the Civil Infrastructure Division.
4. CBRE‘s Phoenix office recently announced three promotions: Cooper Fratt to Executive VP and both Bryson Fricke and Max Bippus to Senior VP.
5. Meghann Woo has been promoted to VP of Operations at Synergos Companies.
New Hires
6. After a nationwide recruitment process, Andy Granger has been selected to join the City of Goodyear’s executive team as Deputy City Manager and will start in his new role on Jan. 9.
7. Clayco recently announced two new hires. Erica Storck has joined as Director of Preconstruction Estimating, and Jodi Wayne has come on as Project Manager.
8. Madison Leake has joined Burch & Cracchiolo as an Associate.
Retirements
9. Peoria City Manager Jeff Tyne and Deputy City Manager Erik Strunk have announced their retirements. Strunk announced he was retiring last month. Tyne will leave his position in March.
