    1. The Building Owners and Managers Association of Greater Phoenix recognized its members recently at the 2022 BOMA Fall Gala Awards banquet at The Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch. The honorees were:

    2. The Arizona Masonry Council recently celebrated its 31st Annual Excellence in Masonry Architectural Awards, with 15 projects recognized for their outstanding masonry design, workmanship, and creativity with the use of brick, block and/or stone.

    Teams for the Gold Trowel Award winners:

    • ASU Durham Hall Renovation: Arizona Board of Regents, owner; Ayers Saint Gross, architect; PK Associates, structural engineering firm; Okland Construction, general contractor; Sun Valley Masonry, major masonry contractor; and Summit Brick, major masonry supplier.
    • Four Sevens: Bill Cleverly, owner; MACKOS Architecture and Construction, architect and general contractor; BDA Design, structural engineering firm; Pioneer Masonry, major masonry contractor; and Superlite, and Oldcastle Company, major masonry supplier.

    Company News

    3. Taylor-Morrison Home Corp. and Christopher Todd Communities have declined to renew their Build-to-Rent partnership. The companies first joined forces in 2019.

    4. Taylor Morrison has announced its new Build-to-Rent brand name: Yardly. The line will specialize in communities featuring cottage-style, for-rent homes with private backyard space.

    Promotions

    5. PCL Construction in Tempe recently announced three promotions. Mike McKinney has been promoted to Senior VP of the Civil Infrastructure Division, Richard Hewitt has been promoted to VP and District Manager of the Civil Infrastructure Division, and Mauricio Ramos has been promoted to District Manager of the Civil Infrastructure Division.

    6. Brenda Burman has been promoted to General Manager of the Central Arizona Water Conservation District. She will replace Tim Cooke in the position upon his retirement Jan. 5.

    7. Lisa Tinnion has been promoted to VP at Transact Commercial Interiors.

    New Hires

    8. Bettina Hunt has been named Senior VP of Colliers in Arizona. She has joined the healthcare specialists in the company’s Phoenix office.

    9. Tanya Garcia has been hired at Charter Construction Group as VP of Strategic Growth.

    10. W.E. O’Neil Construction has announced two new hires. Ryan Ellis has joined as Director of Multifamily Projects and Sergio Reyes has joined as Project Superintendent.

    11. SCS Engineers announced the hiring of Stephen Kriley and Cristina Langridge. Kriley conducts Phase I and Phase II environmental investigations and asbestos surveys. Langridge assists with Phase I and II environmental investigations and reporting and offers communications services.

    12. Sundt Construction’s Building Group recently hired Samuel Lang as an Assistant Project Manager in its Tempe office.

    13. Cushman & Wakefield announced that the firm’s National Industrial Advisory Group – Mountain West team has added Associate Molly Hunt and Senior Financial Analyst Callahan Conway.

    14. Melissa Jaime has joined Spectra Electrical Services, Inc. as a Site Admin.

    In Memoriam

    15. Leo Beus, co-founder of Beus Gilbert McGroder, has passed away at the age of 78. Beus led the litigation department at the firm, which was ranked as one of the top land use and zoning law firms in the country by U.S. News & World Report.

    16. Chanen Construction Co. founder Herman Chanen passed away at age 94. Chanen was also a noted philanthropist and had served on the Arizona Board of Regents.
